The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Ya, dips and chins are really taking off for you. Those are two good lifts to make progress on.

Great work Gazzy. It's always an awesome feeling crushing weights that were once heavy. Smart move n the deload, should set you on track for some new 1rm's.

Thanks Hayden. I think my body appreciated leaving the weight off the dips for a session.

    Thanks Coke!!

Got my British Powerlifting Organisation membership card through yesterday, along with confirmation of my entry to the comp in sept.

Looks like I'm officially a powerlifter now, lol. Albeit the weakest one you ever did see! (For now...)

With the deload have you been limiting your calories a bit? Have you even been doing any cardio, or do you plan on doing any cardio now that you are taking in 4,000 calories?

Yeah, I've not been stuffing myself as much whilst deloading. Also, I've added in cardio since finishing my cut. HIIT after most weights sessions, usually 10-15mins. Staying at my mum's this weekend, so not near gym - but did complexes in garden (no weights so used 15kg back of compost, haha!) and went hillsprinting and ropeclimbing in the nearby park.

Started downing lots of green tea too, now I've found a flavour I particularly like. Now I'm a bit leaner than before, I'm thinking that if I up my resting metabolism (through HIIT and green tea) then perhaps my comp will stay the same, or maybe even improve, whilst I get stronger.

Interesting! Sounds like a very solid plan during the deload period. I figured you wouldn't be stuffing your face but you never know.

I am looking forward to the upcoming progress over time.

    Cheers all!

Arm was really hurting last night and still is today. Think I've strained my right tricep. I can use the arm, but if I ever twist it then it's agony. Think it's from riding my motorcycle in the wind with my gf on the back. Good job I've no heavy lifting this week.

Cheers all. I'm sure it'll heal up pretty quickly. Deffo tri rather than bicep - I can easily pull myself up out of bed/on the bus etc. But trying to push myself up out of a chair makes it sore.

    OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!

Had every intention of going to the gym and getting a light deload squat session in.

Didn't even make it to the gym.

Decided on walking the scenic route to the gym, about two miles. Got halfway there and BANG, it felt like I'd be stabbed in the back. Honestly just dropped my bag and crumpled up. Took me ten mins to catch my breath. Was nowhere near the bus route and had no money on me for a taxi. So walked home. Took me 50 minutes to walk the one mile home.

Sat at home now with a protein shake and a lot of ibuprofen. Pain still here, even when I'm not moving, just breathing. Dead in the centre of my back. I said it earlier on today because of my arm. Now I'll say it again - so glad it's deload week lol.

I know the culprit; it's spending several hours in the saddle of my Kawasaki at the weekend. Combined with not enough eating and too much beer.

I need to get serious. No drinking whatsoever until my comp. Consistent meals. And I'm gonna trade my sportsbike in for something with a much gentler riding position.

Got a job interview on Thursday. Want my back to have at least a semblance of being better by then.
