The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

True bud, but the chin up bar at this place is literally a bar attached to the ceiling and it's a jump to get up to it, haha.

Days One Hundred and Two and One Hundred and Three

    Day 102:

    Bench:

    10x45 (20kg)
    6x88 (40kg)
    6x132 (60kg)
    3x154 (70kg)
    3x192.5 (87.5kg)

    DB Bench (per db):

    10x22 (10kg)
    10x45 (20kg)
    10x50 (22.5kg)

    Dips:

    3xBW
    3xBW+22 (10kg)
    3xBW+33 (15kg)

    EZ Bar Curlz:

    10x66 (30kg)
    10x77 (35kg)

    ----------------------

    Day 103:

    Squats:

    10x45 (20kg)
    6x132 (60kg)
    6x176 (80kg)
    3x220 (100kg)
    3x265 (120kg)

    Leg Press:

    10x265 (120kg)
    6x352 (160kg)
    3x440 (200kg) PR
    3x440 (200kg)
    3x440 (200kg)

    Calf Raise:

    20x154 (70kg)

    --------------
    Summary:

Been really busy so not had much time to post.

Bench was a real struggle the other day - don't know why. Hopefully will be better next time. If I get 3x90kg then it'll be a PR.

DB Bench still feels like it really targets chest.

Today's session was good fun.. I reckon I'll be easily good for 130kg x3 next squat sesh, then after that it's 3 plates for reps.

Leg press PR was good. Really like the plate loaded leg press - feels smooth and easier on my knees.

Calf raises I only did 20 reps - but god my calves were killing by the end of those reps!!

Is this the first time on this particular bench? Changes in bench width and height off the ground can make it feel different.

Come to think of it, yes, this is a different bench. Feels a bit rickety and the bar stands are really close together compared to the bench I used to use.

Changes in the barbell and/or weight plates at the new gym could also contribute. Unless they're all exactly 20kg.

    Nice session. Strong squatting man.

You will get 3pps for reps soon i have no doubt mate.

It was a block for me once i nailed it, it is no problem. Gazzy your working hard mate, it will pay off.

Some nice Bench work as well. Ever thought of adding some high volume tricep work into your workouts, i think it could really budge your bench a few KGS something like pushdowns 4x20 etc twice a week?

    Day One Hundred and Four

    Standing Press:

    6x45 (20kg)
    6x88 (40kg)
    6x110 (50kg)
    2x132 (60kg) Rep PR
    1x137 (62.5kg) Weight PR

    Chins:

    9, 3, 3, 3, 3

    Barbell Rows:

    6x88 (40kg)
    6x132 (60kg) x2x2x2 PR

    Tricep Cable Pulldowns:

    20x45 (20kg)
    20x45 (20kg)

    --------------
    Summary:

Just got back from watching Cap America at the cinema. Really good.

Arms still aching from training earlier Session was just epic fun.

Did press first today as I wanted energy for PRs. It worked! 62.5kg felt no heavier than 60,but there was no way I could do a second rep, haha. Presses always done strict; no push-pressing and no bending over backwards to almost turn it into an incline lol.

Chins were slapdash - still getting used to the bar hanging from the ceiling. I'm a shortarse so actually have to climb on the hack squat machine and jump to get it....

Barbell Rows were fun. Doing them proper bent over, straight back, looking ahead, resetting on the ground every rep.

Added in the pulldowns today that Kiff mentioned. The last few reps of the second set were a REAL grind lol,
