The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Day One Hundred and Five

    Bench:

    10x45 (20kg)
    6x88 (40kg)
    6x132 (60kg)
    63x155 (70kg)
    3x176 (80kg)
    3x200 (90kg) PR!!!

    Lat Pulldown:

    20x88 (40kg)
    20x88 (40kg)

    EZ-Curls:

    6x66 (30kg)
    2x88 (40kg) x2x2

    --------------
    Summary:

So hyped right now. Loved that session. Considering how hard 87.5kg felt last time, I was gobsmacked how easy 90kg felt. Added in some Lat Pulldowns as Kiff says Lat-work is important for a big bench. Curlz were good. Even with few reps I feel pumped.

Great, quick session. Looking forward to wednesday now.

Days One Hundred and Six and One Hundred and Seven

    Day 106:

    Deadlifts:

    6x132 (60kg)
    6x220 (100kg)
    3x265 (120kg)
    3x309 (140kg)
    3x330 (150kg)

    --------------------------------

    Day 107:

    DE Bench:

    Speed reps:
    3x132 (60kg) x3 x3 x3

    2 Sec Rest Paused Reps:
    5x154 (70kg)
    5x154 (70kg)

    Tricep Pulldowns:

    20x55 (25kg)

    Lat Pulldowns:

    20x100 (45kg)
    20x100 (45kg)

    EZ Curlz:

    10x66 (30kg)
    10x66 (30kg)

    --------------
    Summary:

This week I've been having to cover-manage another store for the company I work for, as the manager was off. The store was 75miles away, meaning a 150mile round trip each day. Wasn't getting home until 8pm and on one day not until 10pm. So for a 5day stretch I had no chance to train whatsoever.

The Deadlifts are from the first day I started that stretch. Literally only had a tiny amount of time to get them in before leaving for work. Thought I'd see whether there would be enough time in the mornings to get a session in before getting there, but there wasn't. Blasted out a few deads then had to scarper.

Next session was today. Didn't have energy or inclination to do a heavy bench set so though I'd mix it up a bit. Some speed benching and rest pausing. The rest paused sets REALLY hit my chest hard. Pulldowns both tri and lat had me feeling the burn with the high reps.

Got an Indian being delivered soon. Getting some calories down me tonight as I'm planning a big squat day tomorrow.

Speaking of squats, my squat suit was returned and they sent me back the next size up (82.5kg). Tried it on - it'll just go over my quads, barely. But it's ridiculously tight. As in, I can barely quarter squat in it without feeling like my legs're gonna pop off. I'm quite sure it's too tight, but I'm positive that if I replac eit again with the next size up (90kg) then the top half of the suit will be way too baggy!! Unsure what to do....

wear slick compression shorts under it so help it slide into place, also use the straps to hang from a bar to get settled into it

Try this or suit slippers. My briefs are crazy tight. They are a 48 boss, and my suit is a 54 boss. It takes me forever to get my briefs on. Do you think you can get the suit on over the briefs?

Cheers Bri! Been looking at suit slippers, but not sure how you use them. And yeah, briefs would help but not sure whether the Fed I'm lifting in allows them in unequipped?

Came out of there with wobbly legs today - for the first time in a long while. Was great.

Also, went to watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes tonight. Was a really good film, would recommend it.

Sorry I've not been commenting on other people's journals much lately. Been struggling to get any time on the computer. I'm off tomorrow so will have a good read through of how everyone else is doing.

You are among the handful of people I know who thought well of the film, will check it out one of these days.

The squats and leg press combo obviously sealed the deal for you bro, lol.
