Cheers Luna. Mum's funeral's monday, so will have some closure after that. Gotta keep at the training, cos I remember how hard it was to get back into it after a coupla month's not training last time round. Not gonna make that mistake again.

    Getting back to squatting

    Squats:

    6x60(132)
    6x60(132)
    6x100(220)
    6x100(220)
    3x120(265)

    Leg Press:

    6x150(330)
    6x150(330)
    6x190(420)
    6x190(420)

    Calf Raise:

    8x30(66)
    8x60(132)
    8x90(198)
    8x90(198)

    Lying Leg Curl:

    10x35(77)
    10x35(77)

    Decline Situps:

    2x20

    ----------
    Summary:

Only trained twice in the last coupla weeks. Gonna be a couple more sessions before I get full strength back.

Don't wanna deadlift Friday, cos legs'll no doubt still be recovering from today. So gonna make that a very light DB session (shoulder still aching, so keeping it very light), then I'll do some deads on Saturday, after my radio interview to do with our sponsored walk.

Also, good news; now that I've moved back to my hometown, where all my friends live, one of them has expressed interest in training with me! He's been an on/off trainer for a while, but needs someone with him for motivation. He's got a big build, so he should get strong fast if I show him the big lifts. It'll be nice to have someone to train with.

Also guys - please don't forget my 135mile sponsored walk:

    www.justgiving.com/TheBIGWalk2012

Donate anything you can afford. So far we've raised 235 (over $370), but we hope that'll dramatically increase after our radio announcement.

    Some Light Dumbbells

    Weights all per db:

    Incline DB Bench:

    10x6(13)
    10x15(33)
    10x15(33)
    10x15(33)
    10x15(33)

    Seated DB Press:

    10x6(13)
    10x10(22)
    10x10(22)

    Tricep Pulldown:

    15x?
    15x?
    15x?

    DB Hammer Curls:

    8x6(13)
    8x10(22)
    8x10(22)

    ----------
    Summary:

Kept all the weights very very light as it was more to rehab the shoulder and get a little pump than anything else.

As it stands, shoulder didn't hurt throughout and still doesn't hurt now, which I'm very pleased about.

The gym is a poor effort though, despite my early enthusiasm over finding it. It's less 'hole in the wall' and more just 'run down.' Most of the dumbbells and stacks have no numbers on them. The benches wobble. Worst of all, the Squat Rack isn't the best; the pins are all fixed and so close together that it makes unracking very difficult.

Luckily my friend who wants to start training with me knows a good place just round the corner from this one. I went and had a look around and it's much better, with a better rack and such. I've paid till the end of the month at this place, so I will stick it out till then, but beginning of next month I shall start at the new place with my friend.

Depending on finances, I'd still join the newest spot. Nothing wrong with both at first if you can afford it, just let the other one go. Wish you the best moving on man.

    Deadlifts!

    Deadlifts:

    6x60(132)
    6x60(132)
    6x100(220)
    3x140kg(3pps)
    3x170(375)
    1x180(4pps)

    Rows:

    6x60(132)
    6x70(154)
    6x70(154)

    Hamstring Curls:

    10x25(55)
    10x30(66)
    10x35(77)

    ----------
    Summary:

Wasn't expecting fireworks today; I had to get up at 6:20am for my radio interview, plus in my last DL session I could barely budge 160kg.

    But something's gone right since!

Gym owners (a pair of brothers) were watching me deadlift. Worked my way up to the triple at 170kg and was pondering whether to go for 180kg. Loaded 4pps onto the bar, turned to them and said 'watch this stay welded to the floor, haha!'

WHOOSH! It went up, haha! Probably not that fast, but compared to the first time I pulled it it went up easily. Even had time for the hold and head nod at the top, haha. Guys watching said it looked like I have more in me, easily. Felt like it too.

I think the big main difference is that today I was using a lot of mental cues.

    Tuck the shoulders
    Pull backwards
    Use the legs
    Strangle the bar
    HOLD your breath

This was the biggest difference I think - the first time I pulled 4pps, I gave out a great big roar, which caused all the air to leave my torso and lost me loads of stability. This time I held my breath and pulled silently and it went up MUCH easier.

Really happy with how today went.

Will just do some reps next week, then week after it I'll see if I can peg 190kg.
