BUT, yea I've noticed that lower body training helps with upper training, if only psychologically.

You getting married Gaz? How old you be now.
Cheers Chevy! I certainly didn't feel like I'd lost much strength, which is weird, because if I go without training at all for a few weeks then I lose loads.

And yep, getting married in just over two weeks! I'm 27. Tbh, this is the second time I've been married, I did get married before at the age of 20. That marriage only lasted 4 years before she got sick of me, so I just call that my practice run, haha!

Also, worth mentioning that my shoulder feels great today! Was worried last night as it was aching all the way until going to bed. Expected it to be hurting again this morning, but doesn't feel like I've trained it at all!

Think yesterday was about the right level of training for whilst the shoulder is healing.

    ----------
    Summary:

First day back after my stag weekend. Was great fun, but I drank FAR too much, haha! Highlights of said drinking included a PINT of Jagermeister and Red Bull and a two storey beer bong...

Anyway, don't wish to mess up my routine, so being a Wednesday, it was bench day - which funnily enough is the same as the last time I went in, haha.

Bench felt good. Felt so good in fact, that I went up 10kg from last week. Shoulder held out fine. Watched Dave Tate's vid about benching and made sure to focus on keeping my elbow under the bar - it really helped with the shoulder. Could safely lift a bit more without hurting.

Next week I shall attempt either 85 or 90kg, depending on how the warmup sets feel. If I get 90kg x3 that'll equal my PR.

Overheads twinged my shoulder a little more than the bench, as such it's a little sore right now - but it did that last session too and felt fine the next day.

Loving the tricep pulldowns as an alternative to dips. Though I will start adding in some bodyweight dips once the shoulder's 100%.

Deadlifts on Friday. Not deadlifted for over a week, so I think I'll be fine to go heavy again. Depending on how I feel, I may try for a PR, maybe 185-190kg.

The other, hole-in-the-wall gym, that I was going to a coupla weeks back are having a small meet in May. My aim is to DL 200kg by then. I think (hope) that I'll be passed 200kg by then, all being well.

Really happy with how lifting's going. Everything in my life has been pretty messed up lately and sent me in a spin, but knowing that I'm progressing in at least one area of my life is a really positive feeling.

Cheers Nick! I normally sit at home with a bottle of ale, my pipe and the dog in my lap, so not usually a heavy, heavy drinker. Hence the red bull - I needed it to keep awake, lol.

Thanks Hayden! Bench is improving loads - I really need to get my upper body caught up to my lower I think. Quads and glutes are swole, so need chest and arms to balance out otherwise I'll end up looking like a pear!!

    Fail Deadlifts....

    Deadlift:

    6x60(132)
    6x60(132)
    6x100(220)
    3x140(309)
    3x160(350)
    1x180(400)
    0x190
    0x185

    BB Rows:

    6x60(132)
    6x70(154)
    6x70(154)

    Leg Curls:

    10x25(55)
    10x25(55)

    ----------
    Summary:

Have to be honest, bit disheartened after that. Should've expected that Deads would suffer this week - not trained them in a fortnight and had a stag party at the weekend, so was bound to not be at 100%. At least I got some work in though.

Also, learned something interesting; don't have a big dinner an hour or so before training deads. Every time I bent down to grab the bar all the air left my torso making it ten times heavier. Last week 180kg was easy. This week it was very hard.

I had a go at 190 and 185 but neither of them budged. Will focus on reps for the next week or two before going for a big single again. Well, I say that now...

In for dumbbell training on Sunday morning. Looking forward to getting my pump on.

Definitely need more time after a big meal before training, real light ones are different.

Also, the one thing I realize is that alcohol dehydrates me like crazy, especially since I'm not one to carry much water anyways...lessons learned.

Not looking bad by any means.
