The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Summary:

No training partner today and the gym was dead, so thought I'd have to cut bench short with no spot, but luckily someone happened past and I acosted them!

Joints are aching. Might be from all the cardio. Gonna up fish oil to twice a day, when I get up and when I go bed.

Been looking up my old Kung Fu club again. Really tempted to get back into it. Was into it big time when I was a teen and wanted to do the instructor training, but didn't have the time or money. Now I have both.

Cheers Tom. Been taking 1 550g capsule each day, gonna up it to two.

Annoyed today - scheduled for a swim; the pool is 200 yards from my house, literally about a minute's walk. Been full of kids lately, obviously with it being the summer and them being off school, so went today at 9pm thinking it would be empty.

Turned out to be full, still. Turns out that three local pools are closed for refurbishment and their regular swimmers are coming here instead.

Annoyed as hell, as swimming is the thing I need to really be working atm; cycling and running, fine, can do those anytime, but you can't improve your swimming without being in the pool.

And gonna try to go for a swim today. Deadlifts in a minute, followed by swimming, followed by a run...

    Gonna sleep well tonight...

    Deadlifts

    Deadlifts:

    10x60(132)
    5x60(132)
    5x100(220)
    5x120(265)
    5x140(308)
    3x155(340)
    1x175(385)

    BB Rows:

    10x60(132)
    5x80(176)
    1x100(220)

    Reverse Hyper Machine!!!!:

    10xbar
    10x10(22)
    10x20(44)
    10x20(44)

    Abs:

    Crunches

    3x20

Ab Twists with barbell on shoulders

    10x15(33)
    10x25(55)
    10x35(77)

    Then:

20mins in swimming pool practicing breathing in the water.

    Then:

    1.25 mile run. 11mins 49secs.

    ----------
    Summary:

Went into gym today with the goal of getting a few singles above 400lbs, but lower back was aching after sitting at computer for hours yesterday, so kept it relatively light.

REVERSE HYPER!!! Gym got one yesterday! Used it today, my first time ever using one. What a weird feeling! After using it it felt almost as though my lower back were lubricated, as though my lumbar was running on well-oiled ball-bearings, lol. Definitely gonna be a staple in my routine now.

Swimming was a wash out; pool is incredibly busy lately, as it's the summer, the kids are off and the local pools are closed apart from this one. Was intending to do some lengths, but it was too crowded, therefore I simply stayed by the side and go myself used to being under the water.

Need to try early morning, I think, as both late night and mid-afternoon are rammed.

1.25mile run was pretty easy. Got a stitch in my side towards the end, but always do if I've been working abs beforehand.

All in all, a good day's training. Gonna relax this evening with my pipe and some beer.

Cycling tomorrow... who knows what tortures Alex has in store for me?

Great work Gazzy. Good to see your training going up to a whole new level. Also, great that Alex is helping you with your training. I got some help from him when i was doing a 5km run (not impressive, but it was my first) and his responses were brilliant.

Thanks Luna! Yeah, he's proving very knowledgable! Looking for all round strength and fitness; was starting to get winded just walking up the stairs, which isn't a good sign. It's alright being strong, but not out of shape, lol!

Thanks Tom! Yeah, had to up the calories a bit to compensate. Some of these long bike rides etc burn over 1000 cals, so have to eat that much extra so as to not go catabolic ><
