    Moderate Interval Training

    5 minute warm up jog.

Repeat the following intervals x 6:

    100 meter strides
100 meter fast run (to get back to the start)
    10 bodyweight squats (fast, ATG)
    1:00 rest

3 minute brisk walk for cooldown.

    ----------
    Summary:

Relatively easy compared to the long distance stuff - and certainly a lot easier than the sprint interval training of last week.

Niggling pain in my right shin. Gonna keep an eye on it - hope it's not splints.

Was pretty damn chilly out there today. -1c, 30F

    Deadlift/Lower Day

    Deadlift:

    10x60(132)
    5x60(132)
    4x90(198)
    2x105(231)
    1x135(297)
    1x150(330)
    0x165(363)

    SLDL Sumo:

    12x90(198)
    6x90(198)

    Narrow Stance ATG Squats:

    12x60(132)
    12x60(132)

    Lateral Raises:

    6x15(33)
    8x12.5(28)

    Bent Over Lateral Raises:

    12x7.5(16.5)
    12x7.5(16.5)

    ----------
    Summary:

Another mediocre showing. An hour and 45mins and very little to show for it.

Most of that time was spent simply standing waiting for my energy to return from the previous sets.

Deadlifts were disappointing - felt like I had zero strength today. Last week, 150kg felt like an empty packet of cornflakes. This week, two attempts to get it off the ground and the successful attempt was a relative effort to lock out.

165kg was welded to the floor.

So disappointed with deads. Looking back through my journal we see this:

    September 2012: 155kg (341) x5 reps
    March 2012: 190kg (418) x1
    Also March 2012: 180kg (396) x3 reps

Weights and reps I couldn't dream of hitting right now.

Anyone thinking of taking a few weeks off training - DON'T do it! Sucks how quickly the strength just drains away.

    Horizontal Cable Rows:

    10x80(176)
    10x80(176)
    6x80(176)

    ----------
    Summary:

Felt good to have some light weight in the hands.

Flyes were meant to be with heavier DBs (25kg) but left wrist couldn't take the strain; it's okay lifting the DB, but soon as I try to turn palm upwards, shooting pain. Perhaps some tight wraps would help. Dropped down to the next heaviest DB that would let me do flyes.

Was meant to do Barbell Rows rather than Cable Rows, but on a saturday the gym is only open 9.30-12.30, so the only area to do them was taken. Cable rows were next closest thing I could do.

I have an occasional shooting pain in my left forearm (mainly doing Skullcrushers & CGBP) and the only thing I can put it down to is breaking my wrist YEARS ago... have you ever injured yours?

Not far off a year ago, I managed to tweak it on deads.

Since then, any movement where I have left palm facing away really hurts, lol.

maybe a wrap or power grip might be the way ahead for you when doing those sort of moves then... definately seems to ease it for me.

    Slow Run

    2.8 miles, 29mins 25sec.

Should've been 3 miles but snowed overnight and was very icy, so I had to shorten the route ever so slightly.

Nice work with the running despite the conditions. I'm having a hard time even imagining snow right now, lol. 43.9 degrees (111F) here yesterday.

    12x5pps

    Hanging Leg Raises:

    10, 10, 10

    ----------
    Summary:

Night and day. Last Monday was a disaster. This Monday was almost enjoyable!

Changes from last weeks: slightly shorter run on the Sunday. More calories (2pints of whole milk each day). Nuking the 2scp protein shakes like there's no tomorrow.

Results: far more energy in this session, as well as a more optimistic attitude, haha.

Double @ 147.5kg felt hard but doable. The two sets of ten @ 105kg afterwards were far harder, lol.

Legs were a lot less stiff today - that, combined with sumo stance, made SLDLs doable. Was going to do another set @ 85kg, but the gym closes at 8:30 and it was already 8:35 by then, lol.

Likewise with the leg presses, was going to do another set but time didn't allow. Legs were already fried so thought teh abz could do with the attention in the last five mins, lol.

Cheers bud. The SLDLs were knackering - lower back was utterly fried by the end.

Enjoyed this session. Felt completely drained by the end - but in a good way. Drained from hard work, rather than not feeling 100%.

Strong lower session, the calories make a huge difference ay! Got to be mindful of the planned work when eating even a day or so in advance. Good to see you nailed the session man.
