The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Cheers bud!

And yup - Melton Mowbray and the surrounding villages are the home of Stilton, the proper stuff.

    From Wiki:

"Stilton cheese originated near Melton Mowbray, and is still made in the town today. Stilton cheese takes its name from the village of Stilton in Huntingdonshire, where it was marketed to travellers on the Great North Road, though no Stilton was ever made there."

Explosively fast upwards, basically throwing it up so it almost leaves your hands.

Timed Mile followed by ME Lower

    Timed One Mile Run:

    8mins 38secs

    Followed within the hour by....

    Deadlifts:

    10x60(132)
    5x60(132)
    4x90(198)
    2x105(231)
    1x135(297)
    1x140(308)
    1x155(341)
    1x170(374)

    GMs:

    8x90(198)
    8x90(198)
    10x90(198(Wide Stance
    10x90(198(Wide Stance

    Cable Pullthroughs:

    8x20(44)
    8x40(88)
    8x60(132)
    8x60(132)

    ----------
    Summary:

Was meant to Dead yesterday and run tonight.

Didn't have chance to train last night, so had to run tonight and then go to the gym straight after.

Legs felt tight and tired after the run and initial deads felt pretty heavy. Even 105kg felt surprisingly slow. But they didn't seem to get much heavier after that.

170kg went up okay. If I hadn't ran and didn't have GMs straight after, I reckon I'd've had a shot at 180 and probably bagged it. Pretty encouraging; not been around 4pps for months now due to various things. Once I'm back training consistently above 4pps again, I'll be damn happy.

Wrist held up fine. Main problem today was keeping a big bellyful of air when reaching to the bar.

GMs felt the best I've ever done them; lower back felt tight and solid and could really feel entire posterior chain being worked.

Pullthroughs are a good movement - but the cable machine doesn't go very heavy, lol. Event to get 60kg involves hanging a plate off it haha.

Was meant to do some Split Jerks after; had no energy left for them, lol.

Gonna have a bath in a min, with a glass of red wine, followed by a 1500kcals dinner of lemon and herb chicken, potato wedges and melt-in-the-middle chocolate cake....

    Thanks guys!

Went in tonight for ME upper, but was more of a token session than anything.

Long day; travelling for intern interview this morning, then a family funeral this afternoon.

Got to the gym half hour before it closed, went to do some benching and had no strength.

Worked up to 85kg, went up okay. Went to bench 102.5kg and spot had to take it.

Did some CGs after, then came home.

Gonna chalk it up to running and two ME days back to back running me dry, lol.

Cheers Bruiser! Hoping to get back up to 180kg and beyond, then start setting PRs this summer. Been knocking on the door of 200kg(440lbs) for about a year now; everytime I get close, something comes along to throw me off, lol!

Thanks Coke! I so, so underestimated how much the running impacts on the lifting and vice-versa.

When running gets better, lifting suffers; when lifting gets better, running suffers.

Gonna be a long hard road, but hopefully by the end of it I'll be a chiseled, strong, fast athlete.

    One can but hope, lol!

    DE Lower

    ATG Narrow Stance Squats:

    15xbar
    10x60(132)
    10x70(154)
    10x70(154)
    10x70(154)
    10x70(154)
    10x70(154)

    Seated GMs:

    10x60(132)
    10x60(132)
    10x60(132)

    Jumping Pullups from Squat Position:

    12, 12, 12

    ----------
    Summary:

Not a proper DE day, but a nice light day to recover after a pretty tough feeling week.

Hoping all these GMs are gonna start paying off in terms of my squat and dead.

Jumping Pullups were originally sposed to be Burpees to Pullups, but Pullup bar is attached to a wall and burpees meant I'd either bash my head on the wall or end up too far from bar to jump straight up, rendering it pointless.

So in the end, did the squat position to pullup jump.

Never had my lats burn so much from a lower session before, haha.
