You should look into a front squat harness. I'm picking one up in a few weeks. Should be able to double the weight you're using.

The front squats, though, are KILLERS! Main problem is getting the holding position right - ended up with the bar trying to roll down onto my arms from time to time.
    What grip do you use?

    Arms crossed grip.
Do you think the grip itself is the problem or just not staying upright enough?

I think it's just pure lack of technique, lol. Hardly done any front squatting, so I'm probably not staying upright enough, feel off-balance.

I'm sure it'll improve in due course. Leg strength is no problem - as Bruiser said, I could front squat double what I am with a harness. We'll have to see how things improve with practice.

    The 8mins Pullup/Dip Ihatelife Superset:

    Pullups = 2pts
    Dips = 1pt

    Achieved 20 pullups (40pts)

    Achieved 27 dips (27pts)

    Total of 67pts - aimed for 80! ><

    Barbell Rows:

    10x80(176)
    13x80(176)
    10x80(176)

    ----------
    Summary:

Good session - the pullup/dip medley was awful! I really suck at these bw movements since gaining some weight. Gotta keep hammering them.

Bench was okay - arms felt really stiff this morning to begin with. Took a while to warm up.

Rows were good - forgot belt, so did them all beltless.

Long run tomorrow, so got to make sure I eat loads today.

    Long Distance Running

    Distance: 6.5 miles

    Target Time: 1hr 12mins

    Actual Time: 1hr 11mins 29secs

    -----

Charged the iPod for the first time in months, downloaded 60 running songs and got to it. Drank a Lucozade Sport over the first 2/3 of the run.

The last half mile was all up hill - sprinted it as best I could.

Weather milder now, causing two issues:

    1) Had to stop for about 30secs, to remove my hoodie and tie it about my waist. Next run I shall just brave the cold to begin with knowing that I'll warm up, rather than having to stop and remove clothing.

    2) Chafing becoming an issue for the first time in these long runs. I shall begin to Bodyglide the thighs from the next run.

Damn chuffed after today's run. Damn chuffed.

    Summary:

    Bish bash bosh.

Chuffed to get 4 plates again. First time in months. And it flew up. Was tempted to stick 190 on, but wanted to end deads on high note.

Was sposed to do four sets of speed deads after, but completely forgot in the excitement and had already moved the bar ready for squats, haha.

Was also meant to do some heavy shrugs - but have no straps! Gonna have to go get some this week...

nice work gaz, good to see you back on the right track, those are pretty good box squats too considering. What do you free squat for reps? around the 145-150 mark?

Cheers Jay! I've done 140kg free squat for 6 reps before. I'm sure I've got 150 for a double or triple in me.

    Heavy Interval Training

    5 mins warm up jog.

Then 5 of the following interval:

    100 metre strides
    100 metre all-out sprint
    50 metre jog
    50 metre walk

    Then 5 mins cooldown walk

    ----------
    Summary:

Sprints are beginning to feel pretty fast now, compared to how they used to. In addition, recovering from the sprints a lot faster, too.

Feel better at the end of all 5 intervals than I did after any single interval a few weeks back, lol.

Cheers bud! And yeah, if I stopped the running, it'd be PRs all over the place within a week or two.

As it is, though, I want to take the hard road and try to make gains in both. Starting to crest the hill, now, reckon there'll be some lifting PRs on the horizon, pretty soon.

Thanks Mac! Glad to be getting back near my old strength levels again.

And tbh, bud, I wouldn't advise running, not with how your PRs are coming thick and fast. Milk those gains whilst you can! If you start running (unless it's just some light jogging) then it might stall you and you don't want that.
