I have to let my balls swing freely and howl at the moon for a few days after being a well-behaved house dad all Winter.
    Now that's funny, lol.

And you WILL come back fresh. Its funny...we all know that deloads payoff big time, yet we are all too stubborn to do them lol.

Hell it's hard to bounce back at the "old" age of 27, lol.

I'm learning from you, and you could say some of your mistakes, I'm going to take some extra time off to let my back heal up a bit. I'm so anxious to hit these last 5 weeks of my contest prep hard, but I don't want to hinder myself in the future.

I would have been tempted to hit some hard sprints as well John, I'm guilty of the same things.

I agree...I am 27 too and I wouldn't be able to do his routine either. I have enough trouble squatting 5 days apart. I am sure age affects it in some way but not as much as we all think, unless you are like 60 or something lol.

I was thinking that deload week is when I should throw the sprint work in. Probably won't kill me then.

    14" Box Squat
    135 lbs x 3
    185 lbs x 3
    225 lbs x 3
    275 lbs x 3
    315 lbs x 3
    365 lbs x 1
    405 lbs x 1, 1, 1

    Notes:
I decided to use the taller box for these today because it was just a test and not going for a PR. I just wanted to get an idea of where I was at with the squats. Going down was a little shakey with the 405 but rising up was strong and fast. I was tempted to go for a PR after that but didn't want to push it all the first time out with singles. So, I decided just to get a few good singles in. I think I need to break out the Good-Mornings to help with dropping into the hole. I could definitely tell that I was switching back and forth between hams and quads.

Nice strong squats! I'd said good idea on not pushing it too far on the trial run. Looks like hitting your goal of 500 isn't too far off

So, a question to the power lifters that lurk in here...

If I am switching back-and-forth between quad and ham activation on the way down, does that indicate weak hamstrings?
If it is weak hamstrings, as I think it is; what is the best way to work on that? Goodmornings for reps, I think?

So true, that's what i've come to realize about lifting. It has a profound effect on mental strength above physical strength. If you can conquer the weightroom (in your eyes) you can conquer all.

Geez. We set the box at 20-25 inches I think..lol. Strong stuff.

Do you know a good bit about 4wd stuff?

I have an 07 Tacoma TRD and I need tires by fall. I want something more aggressive but I don't want to modify anything. I <3 resale value and I need reliability for a 35 mile commute. Right now I'm thinking something all terrain in maybe a 275/70/16 (it's 265/60/16 now I think)? I want a more aggressive look but I need my regular gas mileage (crappy) and not too much more noise.

I love Sponge Bob. I hear you on the gym making you tough. When I'm out hiking up hills I get really tired until I think that it's nothing when compared to a heavy set of 20 reppers. Then I just seem to find the energy to keep going.

It feels low, but it's not as low as my 12" box I use for full squatting.

I should see how much I can squat with a 25" box - lol

I'm not very good with metric sized tires. Thank goodness real off road tires still are marked in inches.

If you want a great tire for dirt, mud, and snow...plus looks really aggressive...plus wears really well...plus has really good street manners. Check out the Goodyear Kevlar MT/Rs. Fantastic all-around tires and the only tires I'll run on my Jeep.

I spent yesterday fixng the last bit of stuff on my Jeep. Some of it was hard because my Jeep is so bent and twisted that things don't line up correctly any more. I'm going to drive my Jeep to work all next week to see if there is anything else that pops up before the trip. But for now, the Jeep seems to be in tip-top mechanical shape. I'll try to take some pictures of some of the crazy shit we do out there.
