Growing up on the streets. Thats how.

And I dont think thats really "massive upper body strength". Its more a display of muscle control or coordination.

Because they train specifically for that kind of strength.

It is called the SAID principle - Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demand. It means you will adapt very specifically to address the stress imposed by your training regimen.

Nah they're not strong in that sense, but what they're doing is still impressive. Not many people have such crazy upper body strength when it comes to bodyweight exercises. It's just a different kind of "strong," if that makes sense.

Really? I'd think these guys have pretty high one-rep maxes in exercises that are relevant to their sport. Like say weighted chins. You really don't think they pull a lot on that? I bet these guys do a lot of low rep training with weights too.

It's the grip strength that I think is amazing.

For me, something like this is even cooler, eps. in terms of grip strength Having an "open hand" like that just makes it crazy heavy. But yeah, he probably weighs like 70 kg or something :P

Oh I'm sure they'd have great 1 rep maxes with weighted chins or something along those lines. I was just talking about their 1 rep maxes in bench press, squats, and deadlifts. I'm sure they've got amazing strength in any upper body pulling movement though.

I think their amazing strength is more specific, like Chris already mentioned.

I would be willing to bet they can move a decent amount of weight around at there body weight. I've seen a few guys at the Arnold Classic that could do crazy pull ups and other odd stuff that the average lifter couldn't do. Also, got a chance to see one of them bench and if I remember correct he benched 225 over 30 reps at a bw of 175. Some people are just born to be strong.

Its funny, it looks like a basic cookie cutter type program they use to "get in shape"
