Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    SATURDAY 7 JANUARY

    Warmup:
3 x 3 minute rounds on the Slam Man

    DB Lat Raises:
    3 x 21 @ 7.5kg (7 straight / 7 pronated / 7 supinated)

DB Front Raises SS with DB Press:
    3 x 10 @ 15kg & 3 x 10 @ 20kg

EZ Bar Overhead Tricep Extension SS with EZ Bar Curls:
    1 x 30 @ 20kg & 1 x 30 @ 20kg

EZ Bar Overhead Tricep Extension SS with BB Curls:
    1 x 10 @ 35kg & 1 x 10 @ 32kg
    2 x 10 @ 35kg & 2 x 10 @ 30kg

Bench Dips SS with Standing Hammer Curls:
    3 x 10 +35kg & 3 x 10 @ 15kg

DB Tricep Kickbacks SS with DB Concentration Curls:
    3 x 10 @ 15kg & 3 x 10 @ 10kg

NOTE: Another quick workout in my garage... really busy at work just now so only managing 1 workout a week! Haven't managed to squat, bench or DL in about 5 weeks now!

1st time on the Slam Man in a while (managed to clear some space in the garage so that I could actually reach him) and I'd forgotten how much hard work it was... my knuckles are a bit tender but I think he came off worse!

Also, 1st time doing BB Curls in a while (usually use the EZ Bar) and I found it difficult... arms always been my weakest bodypart so must try harder!

Must be fun doing an arms day! Are you Scottish then, or did your son just move there? I went to uni in Glasgow, and my Dad's side of the family is Scottish.

I need to do arms as mine are so skinny! tbh, I'd much rather be deadlifting!

I am Scottish mate. born and brought up just outside Glasgow. I was on a Navy course and we all went out on a pissup in Pompey... met my missus and stayed! which Uni did you go to? Glasgow or Strathclyde? what did you study JC?

Nice story! I went to Glasgow and did English literature. I grew up in Edinburgh before my family moved south so I wanted to go back to Scotland to study. I liked Glasgow but damn it was cold, dark, and wet. Can't be bothered with that any more!

Haha... I know that feeling! When I was growing up I never felt the cold... short sleeved shirts in the snow was no problem! Now, after living on the South Coast for the last 9 years I wear a micro fleece wind-stopper with Goretex outer shell every time I go home... I've turned into a proper Southern shandy drinking poof!!!

    FRIDAY 13th JANUARY

    WARMUP:
5 min light jog to the gym

    SQUAT:
    worked up to...
    3 x 5 @ 120kg

    Note:
1st time squatting for about 6 weeks and I knew it wasn't gonna be pretty but found this hard! I wasn't getting right down on any of these reps and by the 3rd set I was struggling!
I got right down whilst warming up and felt my hams from the end of the 1st set at 120kg!

    DL:
    worked up to...
    1 @ 170kg - no assist with grip
    4 x 1 @ 170kg - with Power Grabs

    Note:
I miss deadlifting when I don't get a chance to get to the gym! grip survived better than I had hoped after such a break.

    BENCH:
    worked up to...
    3 x 5 @ 70kg

    Note:
been really busy at work recently and it's not going to get any better any time soon as we prepare to deploy but I have a 24 hour gym available to me again so I might get some stuff done over the next 2 weeks if I'm not too tired... 11 hours days last week before I even got onboard the submarine to start my normal job so we'll see!

Well done fitting in some training around the sub. It's obviously a pain having to deal with all that, but you're still staying fit and strong, and that's something to be happy with.

Jesus. That would be my Achilles heel with any sort of military job. I reckon I could handle the stress and the physical side of things but I just can't work without sleep.

    TUESDAY 24th JANUARY

    Warmup:
5 minute light jog to the gym

BB Overhead Tricep Extension SS with BB Curls:
    1 x 30 @ 25kg & 1 x 30 @ 25kg

    Note:
found this warmup more difficult than normal before I realised that I was using 25kg instead of the normal 20kg!

BB Skullcrushers SS with BB CGBP:
    3 x 10 @ 35kg & 3 x 10 @ 35kg

    Bench Dips:
    3 x 10 +35kg

EZ Curls SS with Seated DB Hammer Curls:
    1 x 10 30kg & 1 x 8 @ 16kg
    1 x 10 30kg & 1 x 8 @ 14kg
    1 x 10 30kg & 1 x 6 @ 12kg

    DB Concentration Curls:
    3 x 10 @ 10kg

    BB Curls SS with Dips:
    2 x 10 @ 25kg & 2 x 8 (BW only)
    1 x 10 @ 25kg & 1 x 6 (BW only)

    Note:
I've always hated my skinny arms! though, morale-boostingly, the 2 guys I was training with couldn't keep up and 1 of them has noticeably bigger arms than me!

(I guess I'm getting vain as I storm towards my 40th birthday and the corresponding mid-life crisis! )

    1 x 5 @ 80kg
    1 x 4 @ 80kg
    1 x 2 @ 80kg

DB Curls SS with DB Overhead Tricep Extension:

    1 x 30 @ 10kg & 1 x 30 @ 10kg

    3 x 8 @ 12.5kg

    Seated DB Hammer Curls:
    1 x 8 @ 15kg

    Bench Dips:
    3 x 12 +30kg

    Tricep Pushdowns:

    Note:
    bloody skinny arms!

should be at sea but we're back in to fix a defect and staying in a hotel that has a very basic gym. will rest tomorrow then use the gym here in the Naval Base for some squats and DLs... that gym is very well equipped for all the Royal Marines that beast themselves in it!

Skinny arms are a pain aren't they?

Have fun training with the Marines! Do they have any kind of powerlifting team? They must have some pretty hardcore guys.

    WEDNESDAY 8th FEBRUARY

    BENCH:

    3 x 5 @ 70kg

    SQUAT:
    3 x 5 @ 100kg

Note: kept these light to concentrate on form and depth

    DL:
1 @ 200kg - no assist with grip... GRIP PR!
did a couple of back off sets.

    DIMMEL DLs:
    1 x 20 @ 100kg

    Note:
So happy that I managed 200kg without wraps or Power Grips that I forgot to do the Rows or Lunges that I was planning to do... oh well!
