The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

cheers Tom. these were from right above my knee cap... I've done 240kg at that height before but, like I said, I need to buy some more of the bigger plates as I had 2 x 25kg, 1 x 20kg, 1 x 15kg, 1 x 10kg and 2 x 5kg plates on each side so there was no way I could even get the 2.5kg plates on the bar!

    SATURDAY 19 OCTOBER

spent an hour and a half at a new local gym getting some coaching from an ex Royal Navy PTI and one time deadlift world champ (242.5kg (533.5lbs) at 67.5kg (148.5lbs) bodyweight):

I went along as he's a good guy starting out with a new business which he is very passionate about... anyone on the South Coast in the UK should pop along for a look-see:

    http://www.sc-performance.co.uk/

it was all about technique as I'm thinking of entering my 1st comp next month (if it'll fit in with my work schedule) and, as I usually train alone, I've fallen into bad habits. only squatted up to 100kg (220lbs) and then up to 190kg (418lbs) on the deadlift (which, like last week, felt heavier than I was expecting it to!)... like last week I should've listened to my body but I wanted to go higher so, bearing in mind I've had 220kg (484lbs) to my knees twice in the last couple of weeks, I went for a 2.5kg PB at 212.5kg (467.5lbs) and missed!

today is also the anniverary of the Battle of Trafalgar... a fine day in the history of the Royal Navy where the combined French and Spanish fleet got a good kicking!

I'll raise a glass this evening in The Immortal Memory of Vice Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson.

Got caught in a torrential downpour and DRENCHED on Tuesday evening and then felt a bit low for a couple of days so didn't manage to do anything until I felt better Friday morning:

    FRIDAY 25 OCTOBER

GVT (BB Skullcrushers superset with BB CGBP (with Fat Gripz)):

    10 x 10 + 10 @ 32.5kg

Note: 200 reps and 6500kg moved in 20 painful minutes.

Had my PWO protein shake as normal then, about an hour later, an omelette with some raw broccoli... nothing unusual about that but I felt really bloated afterwards and my guts have been playing up again!

Was planning on going to Sean Cole's coaching session again like last Saturday morning but I don't feel too confident about straying too far from the toilet (definitely NOT confident about squatting)!

On a plus note, I've dropped another couple of lbs and I'm now (just) under 14 stone for the 1st time in a while!

    10 @ 150kg

Note: weighed myself this morning and I've lost another couple of pounds... 1 more pound and that'll be a stone off.

Tuesday was my 1st day back in uniform for nearly 6 weeks (after time off for a family issue) and my trousers are noticeably looser around the waist... unfortunately they're also looser around my ass & upper legs too (I didn't carry any fat there!) so squatting strength is definitely down slightly.

I'm all the more happy with my pull PR the other day for that though!

Cheers Jamie! I was gonna stop at 270kg but realised that was just below 600lbs so had to go just a bit heavier!
