The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Tough Mudder

Anyone do the tough mudder? My sister's boyfriend is trying to get me to do it this fall. 12 mile run with crazy obstacles (including fire and electric fences!). Sounds like an interesting challenge.

"Now we're finally getting to the chicken or the egg question," I grinned. "Did I eat all that food because my size gives me more of an appetite, or did I get to be this big because I've been forcing myself to eat like this for years?"

Eff that! I have a hard enough time not hurting myself in a controlled gym setting. But want a full report back if you do.
    I know you're half-crazy, but I wish you'd go all the way.

I think that'd be tons of fun to do. I was thikning of trying to do the one in CO in June but between a tweaked shoulder and fucked up back I havent been able to train appropriately for it. But at some point in the next couple years I'd love to do one.

Here is a link to a tough mudders training vid I posted a while back

I've done the Warrior Dash twice with my wife, it's 3.5miles. Great time, but I would not want to do 13 miles!

Go for it. I didn't get a chance to do the Tough Mudder, although I wanted to. Yeah, the electric fence looked "scary", haha... My girlfriend did the Runamuck (similar) with no issue and we're both signed up for the Rebel Race.

I've done three of them, Bear Creek 2010, Tri State 2010, Bear Creek 2011. I'm signed up for Tri State in the fall again and I will travel to Scotland in 2012 for that event as well.

I hate running, I would seriously rather watch grass grow, but I have never had a bad time at these things! Plus it helps a great cause.

Dynamo - my sister's friend did Allentown and had a blast.

Btw, I understand that it's like run a half, stand around for 5 minutes to get on an obstacle, repeat 20 times. Does that sound about right?

A few female friends of mine have done 'em. And they weren't the roughest toughest chicks. So... shouldn't be bad, I wouldn't think.

    I am a pretty boy...

I think I'm going to pass anyway. I've had enough running for one summer.

My brother and I are doing the one East of Dallas this October. It is a different goal to train for, and yes running sucks.
