These guys are fucking idiots.
I need to see their other videos now.
Wow, that was good. Might not be a good idea to watch that at work but still funny.
Check out my journal:
Goal To be the Strongest Huggins! - started again on 2/24/11 then again 2/27/12
squat: 420 405 x 5
bench: 355 320 x 3
deadlift: 455 420 x 3
Total 1215 on a single day
The comments on their videos are the most broscience statements I've ever heard. And I browse bodybuilding.com pretty regularly.
Broscience at it's finest indeed. I saw they have a video about sex before lifting. I wonder if the Don Dadda is a follower if their videos?
They seem like credible sources to me.
They sound like Kenny Powers but slightly dumber and even less coherent than Charles Barkley (with an uncanny resemblence in the tone of their voice to Charles'). Quads don't do anything in the deadlift? I always thought your quads are responsible for anything involving straightening your legs from a bent position, but I guess in the deadlift they just go to sleep and you straighten your legs with magic.

I'm pretty sure that video made me lose some IQ.

This video, without a doubt is providing the most moronic, misguided and misinformed information I have ever seen.
Yes the deadlift can be somewhat dangerous...but so is every exercise if you don't know what you are doing.
In summation I hope that someday these guys are in a gym with a top professional powerlifter (preferably one who has a short fuse) and attempt to give him this "advice"
So who wants to join me in trolling their YouTube videos with comments?
What fuck heads!!
I would like to fight them one after the other.

Building Mighty Mitts...
You know... the first 50 seconds are actually not that bad... after he claims deadlifts are overrated, he starts out by saying they build a lot of strength in numerous spots, everything involved in "bein' able to pick a bitch up off tha floor"...k... that's about where he should have stopped but oh well

Ahhh... that's adorable. What a cute couple they make. Let's leave them to it.
Is it me, or is the camera about 50cm closer to their faces than it needs to be? Like, if you were setting up the camera, would you think "so if we sit here then we get to look like normal guys having a chat, BUT if we move it a lot closer and then we get to lean into each other the whole video. Let's do that, then we can also pretend to be confrontational."
What's the guy on the right looking at? It wouldn't look weird if they just sat a bit further back, but he's so close I can't help wondering if a squirrel ran past the window or something.
While I do think that deadlifts are a good exercise, I found this post over at IM dealing with the same video and I think this post definitely had merit:
"Although I don't like their presentation, I agree with alot of what they say. There is a HUGE risk/reward associated with deadlifts. I've decided, after going through back surgery, that the reward is NOT worth the risk. In fact, my back has improved dramatically since I STOPPED deadlifting.
Some exercises do not suit certain people well."
Another post in response:
"This [ABOVE POST] I do agree with. I don't deadlift anymore because I have a genetic hip problem and minor scoliosis which fucked my back up a couple of years ago. I mostly stick to knee high rack pulls now instead (doesn't help that I have long ass legs relative to my torso so I gotta do a parallel squat basically to get my back in proper positioning). I think it all depends on your genetic structure as well. But to just outright say that they're a bad exercise in general is plain ignorant."
Just goes to show that there is a lot of risk for the reward some exercises like squats, deads, and flat benching give. It's one of the reasons I no longer back squat--I can only squat without GMing if I go low bar and have a very wide stance. Not exactly the best position for quad development, which is what I was squattin for. Again, risk/reward.
