    Raw Oats + Diet for sprinter

    I've never had the taste for oats but I've been trying out this new recipe and wanted to know if it is ok.
    Normally I just put some raw oats into a bowl, add some protein powder and some cold milk. It tastes amazing but I wanted to know if this is ok? Should the oats be cooked? Can someone give me the advantages and disadvantages of each?

    I'm training to be a sprinter and am pretty quick but this past year due to a few injuries I haven't been able to work out and have put on some weight. My coach told me that to get quicker and less injury prone a sprinter needs the build of a weightlifter (well similar to) at least with regards to the explosive strength. I am a vegetarian (no eggs) and I wanted to know if it is possible for someone to help me patch up a diet plan that I can use so that I can build up and get back into running.

    Currently I eat stuff like vegetable soup (with a lot of vegetables), protein shakes, rice, fruits like apples, papayas, oranges, bananas, the above mentioned 'oatmeal' and some other stuff. My diet is pretty limited since I'm a veggie but wanted to know if someone who knew something about this could help me out.

    I'd imagine it would be difficult to build up the body [like a powerlifter] with a vegitarian diet. Shoot, it's hard enough to do it for us meat-eaters. I know people have done it, but it's certainly not the easiest thing to do. Be interesting to hear what other vegans would say.

    Add oats to blender DRY...grind into powder. Add desired protein powder. Add water/milk/any extra ingredients. Blend and enjoy your easy to drink yet calorie dense shake! I have been doing this for the last 3 months and it hasn't gotten old yet.

    the raw oats are absolutely fine bro. what are you limits of your vegetarian status... are you a vegan? or do you eat fish? is the protein you use whey? cause thats dairy.

    He says he drinks milk and doesn't mention fish, so he's probably a "classic" vegetarian.

    Cup of Raw Oats, Milk, Blueberries, 2 Whole Eggs, Plus 4 Egg Whites.... Breakfast of champions.... Why waste time cooking them

    Ok so what I take it is that the raw oats are ok? I've read in some places and other forums that they give you constipation? Is that true?
    Yeah, my diet is the pretty standard vegetarian diet. I used to be vegan but realized it's difficult to train on that diet so I'm just vegetarian and I drink milk but don't eat eggs or fish. I need to lose fat and get more toned and I'm not sure what diet to follow and that's what I need some advice with. The main problem here is that I'm currently on my summer break and in Ethiopia (I live in the UK) and not exactly everything is readily available here. That's why I can't really stick to the diet that my coach gives me and that I could ask some body builders for some advice?

    Milk is fattening, i woulndt touch it with a 10 feet pole

    Again, Raw oats are fine, no constipation issues... Milk is also fine . If I was you I would just make sure you are getting enough protein with your meal(s), being a vegetarian these is where a protein supplement may help.

    If you like you can either try blending up the oats with some protein and either milk or water to make a thick type of shake, otherwise just put the oats in a bowl and pour the shake over the top, this is my preference as it feels like more of a substational meal than blended oats. If you do want to cook the oats, you can still mix in some protein too, just make sure you do this after you have cooked them.
