The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

more of repition work after DE squats. I guess you could say we are on a program where we typically deadlift on DE days with a rotation of ME type heavy block pulls, DE type lighter band pulls, a medium/heavy deficit pull (which I do for heavy singles, Rob does more doubles and triples trying to pull the weight as fast as possible) and no pulling because we pull heavy reverse bands on ME day that week. In these videos you can hear me talking as we are both working on form and talking each other through the lifts with others behind and in front watching for form issues. Rob definately doesn't lack the strength to pull big. We just need to work through his leverages and get those things correct, then the sky's the limit.
    Finally ELITE @ SHW..

Single ply: 931 squat, 760 bench, 530 deadlift and 2180 total
Multi ply: 960 squat, 770 bench, 550 deadlift and 2250 total.

    The next stop: PRO total.

Rob, it has always been the same. Check out how the videos were fixed by just clicking on edit post to view it. All you have to put in between the you tube box is the last bunch of letters after the =sign.

This was all that was needed for your second video.

Could be the way his arms hit his sides, or just could be because the weight is light, but keep those arms straight and don't bend them.

I saw it in the video---it was something I honestly didn't see as clearly when we were watching the actual lifts. We both have that problem. In my case I pull with my arms and my right grip opens up or I end up looking like I'm hitching. Rob doesn't have the grip issues I do.

If Rob is going to pull sumo, he should get wider, bring his grip in slightly, and consciously keep his arms straight. You guys are stronger than me, granted(though I might have a higher comp dl, but it is still too low) but those tips will help.

What we are doing right now is experimenting with deadlift stances. We didn't shoot video of ever set done that night, but he started out with essentially a conventional stance and moved it out until he felt more comfortable as the weights went up. What I saw was the heavier weights actually appearing to move faster as the stance changed. I personally am convinced that deadlifts are a leverage exercise and the leverages of a individual absolutely dictate the position that gives that person the ability to lift the most weight. It is also not just a factor of strength pulling up the bar, the strongest person there is will be a crappy deadlifter if their leverages from their setup are wrong for their body. In the case of some people they have to change things up to determine what those leverages are. Some people pull best with a wide sumo stance, some pull best with a more modified stance like Rob is using, some people pull best conventional.

That is basically what we are doing, you are just seeing a tiny part of the entire process with those videos.

I understand how difficult the dl is for the Dickie do guys. Just keep trying to work with what you have. Really wide sumo, super arched and sitting far back, with a close grip is what I think is the best bet. Or trying to mimic a Mark Felix type of form. Good luck.

Hey wilk I think if you moved your grip out just a hair it might make it easier to lck weights out. when you get close to lockout the bar wont be going up your legs. Thats the way mike ruggeria had his hands. I kina do the same when I pull sumo
