    Velocity Diet - a few questions

    I've been researching this diet for a few weeks now and I'm really considering giving it a shot, for those of you that aren't familiar with it, it's a diet where you consume 4-5 protein shakes a day with one whole food meal a week (full plan is on t-nation). I had planned to make the change where I eat a solid meal every other day before or after (depending on energy levels that day) my training session. I've heard alot of people say they've had great success with it, dropping 20-30lbs in a matter of weeks with minimal, if any muscle or strength loss. Anyone have any tips of personal experiences with this diet? thanks for the help. much appreciated..

    When i first read about this diet that was my main concern, losing alot of strength and size. Alot of the people i read about having success with it though didnt follow it to a T, they alternated meals in throughout the week. I think having a large, carb and protein rich meal every training day might be enough to counteract going into a catabolic/starvation state. What do you guys think?

    I don't see why this would be better than counting calories and getting good macros from solid food.

    Sounds kind of silly. I'd focus on improving your diet through real food a some smart supplementation. Build life-long good habits, quick-fixes tend to backfire.

    Like everyone else said, its basically a PSMF for lazy individuals. I haven't tried it, so I cant say its horrible, but I probably would only recommend it for untrained individuals that have a lot to lose.

    You'd be better off with going with a slightly less extreme diet, and a lot of fasted walking. You should be able to lose1-2 lbs of fat per week for 4-8 weeks without doing anything too crazy.

    Your focus should then be on maintanence of strength and muscle, and maximizing fat burning to get the cut over with as soon as possible, and get back to buiding faster.

    Well I've decided I'm gonna go a week on it and see what happens, I certainly couldnt lose much muscle in a week, so I'll just see how my body reacts after a week in and go from there. I think I'm going to cut back on volume and increase weight/intensity to compensate for what I'm sure will be lowered energy levels. I'll try to keep a log going if anyone's interested. And if it doesn't work, at least you guys get a chance to throw me an "I told you so" lol

    18% BF down from 25%+ since April. Halfway to abs.

    Current 1200+ gym total. 214 lbs 5'10.5" 36.5" waist.

    Working on correcting some imbalances at the moment.
