The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    ME LOWER

    Squats
    bar x 20/ultra/wide/comp
    135 x 10
    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    belt on
    365 x 5
    405 x 5
    440 x 5
    495 x 5 (reverse band)

    Speed pulls

    8 sets of 2 @ 285+45lbs chain

    Hypers
    3 sets of 10 with 25lbs chain

    Front squat walk outs
    3 sets of 15 seconds @ 225

    neck/bad girl superset
3 sets of 15 on each

the weights are feeling like nothing on my back. Pretty happy as I can be with that set, I said I would push it and I did. Got a bit funky on the 4th and had to tell myself off a bit for the 5th hence the pause haha. My main problem used to be when I lose my elbows like I did on that one probably the worst, the bar would roll and kill me on the way up. I've eliminated that, just gotta nut up and keep those elbows under the bar, but its obviously easier for singles/doubles. I think I could probably drop them an inch or two deeper to be safe too but not a great angle and for reps im not particulary worried at this point, Got next 5 weeks to really dial it in now after reaping the benfits of beltless and volume/higer rep squats.

Anybody feel free to chime in with suggestions on the vid, also, I think adding in pause squats would be a big benefit for me. Anybody agree?

That looks really solid, you are poised to SMASH your PR... I bet you got 525+ in you... And for whatever it is worth, I think Paused Squats are by far, without a doubt, the best thing you can do for your Raw Squat, and they help your Deadlift too... When you take the Pause out, your form is so tight and rebound is so real... They will be in my program from now own...

Looking good man. I like doing paused squats but am yet to add them permanently so can't really say how good they would be really. Feedback from people I know who use them is positive though.

    295 x 3

    Flat DB Presses (paused)
    90 x 10

    110 x 6

    Incline Tate Press
    30's x 15
    40's x 8
    40's x 8

    145 x 15
    165 x 10
    165 x 10

    upright rows/neck work
    3 sets of - both

pleased with how that moved, got 2 more rotations of bench, will add 10lbs each time I think, and should finish on 315 for a triple before meet. Meet best is 315 so at this moment in time im looking good.

By the looks of your progress you should crush 315! I'm guessing 325-335 at the meet. Awesome job.

    DE Lower

    Squats- 13" box + 45lbs chain
    bar x lots/ultra wide/wide/comp
    add chains
    bar x lots
    135 x 5
    175 x 5
    225 x 5
    ----
    235 x 2 x 8

    RDL's
    3 sets of 15 @ 175

    Quad extentions
    3 sets of 15

    Decline weighted abs
    3 sets of 8 (hold last rep for 10 seconds) @ 20lbs

    Neck
    3 sets of 15

today may aswel have counted as my squat deload, weights moved ridiculously fast as they should with that sort of weight and deloaded chains, will just front squat friday now or use the SSB for a few reps for the actual scheduled deload before some heavy deads.

im actually really enjoying being alot stricter keeping the weights light and moving fast on these days.

I know the feeling. Sometimes seeing that weight just flying during DE is as much an ego boost as crushing a big number on ME days! I know for me it is, especially on bench. I've just never had the speed like a lot of guys. I see guys hitting 50-60% of their max and pounding three reps in about a second?! Fuck! That's impressive.

that is impressive haha, there are some guys out there who just are explosive as f*ck! justin randal being a prime example who posts on here, ive never seen somebody get down there and out so quick when squatting.

    extra workout/ weakness based

Wide grip low cable rows - pulling high to the body
5 sets of 10 reps - working up two pins a set

    Lat pulldowns
    5 sets of 15

    Barbell shrugs
    4 sets of 15 @ 225

    Bad girls/knee outs-band
    3 sets of 15 - hold for 2 count

    Hanging leg raises
    3 sets of 15

pretty boring post but extra work im doing thats really paying off. not doing my bodyweight any favours though haha, upto 249, and looking big! lifts are moving though so for now im not worried! speedy benching tommorow

    DE Upper

    Bench + 45lbs chain
    bar x 15
    add chain x 15
    135 x 5
    175 x 3
    190 x 3
    ---
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3

pause first rep/comp commands, bomb out 2nd two

    DB Military
    45's x 15
    95's x 6
    45's x 15
    45's x 15

    Rope pushdowns+band round neck

3 sets of 20 hideously slow reps

    Rear laterals
    4 sets of 25

wanted to try the metals for DB militaries, and got a nice PR, not particulary bothered as its only a fun lift but its cool to press and push past old boundaries, Id usually never go over 55's but after last weeks success with some heavier DB's wanted to test the waters.

Light squat and heavy deads tommorow, gonna use an old, stiff and fatter bar we have to make it a tad harder.
