The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Great floors buddy. Floors are usually a little stronger then your regular bench. Im usually good for 20lbs more on them.

Thanks B, I get alot out of them as Im one of the rare ones who is a tad weaker, I can literally sink the bar into my chest, I started putting matts down at one point so my elbows did stop higher and I was getting some overload, I'll get a vid next run!

    ME LOWER

tried something a bit more fun tonight.

    Seated Box jumps
5x2 (higher box than last week)

    Deadlift - from floor
    bar x lots
    135 x 10
    225 x 5
    315 x 3
405 x 3 ... this is where the fun began
    410 x 3
    420 x 3
    430 x 3
    440 x 3
    450 x 3
    465 x 3
    475 x 3

played last man standing in 10lb jumps. I lost haha.

Dead Squat (below parralel) - 60 seconds rest
    135 x 1
    225 x 1
    315 x 1 x 10

    Back raises
    5 sets of 15 @ BW

    Ab roller
    3 sets of 10

    Russian Barbell Twist
    3 sets of 12

First time pulling conv. since last meet, would be about 6 weeks. I've always said conv. speed pulls do alot for me and tonight confirmed that. Captain awful off the deck! Sumo does help though so will still use them sparingly, still a while out so can afford to. Dead squats are awesome, My head literally turned into a giant red balloon. Need to start adding weight to the back raises apart from that not a bad session. Lot of good work in but still ways to go.

    Band assisted Pull ups

    4 sets of 4 @ BW

    DB extentions
    3 sets of 8 @ 40's

    peckdeck
    2 sets of 20

    a)Rear delt raises - 25lbs - 2 sets of 20
    b)Barbell Curls - 70lbs - 2 sets of 20
    c)DB shrugs - 90's - 2 sets of 20

good session, bench weights moved really nicely. Be good to see where I'm at 4 rotations forward on mondays ME bench. I was actually pretty pleased with the pull ups too. I know its far from great but the band was looped across the safety bars in the rack so I was only getting a little touch out of the bottom, (I know thats the purpose) but If i can build up over time to 10 sets of 10 its progress and carryover without the band!

thanks B, going to take a more reserved rep based approach to ME work, as I think we do well in our group untill the last rotation where we all get really strong and set loads of PR's in the gym and leave a bit on the platform. I prefer chains for sure, feels alot more natural, think its good for balance aswel when they swing around when you're walking them out!

(aswel and the backdown sets) not a fan of the following 2 though haha. At I think 8 weeks out benching 91% of old max for a triple doesnt seem that bad despite me not being totally pleased.

    Russian Barbell Twist

talk about jelly legs. The deadlift after were absolutely horrific. I have moved my conventional stance out a foot space either way to accomodate my new heavier leverages and good god, Deficit pulls feel like another world. Squats were good, pleased with a beltless PR like that and this is the strongest I've been this early in a training cycle with the squats so should be good to see where they progress to.

    2 sets of 25 @ BW

We did the speed pulls as basically one big cluster set. 3 of us pulling, we all got ready beforehand, chalk and belts on etc, lined up and got to work. One pulled set of 3, out the way next one in. 8 sets in and probably just over 5 minutes later, the last set was actually pretty taxing. Pulling in a fatigued state is something else, my lower back was pumped like crazy.

awesome session though. As I stated earlier in the week I have moved my feet both out a foot width and it felt really good tonight. Went barefoot too (socks) need every advantage on leverages I can get LOL! Felt like I was deadlifting in the past! A much smaller less confident jay struggling to pull 315 for a few reps ha!
