The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Awesome work on the Oly squats. Lots of reps after the previous efforts too. Wonder how you would go doing that as regular work. The other training is looking good too, keep it going man, looking strong

Behemoth of a session, still got it done in under 2 hours. We moved at a great pace today, everything felt pretty good. The deadlifts were done standard speed style where we traded off set for set. One goes, next goes. Timed it and it took 3 mins 50 seconds. Not bad! I went a bit mad with the OLY squats just because its xmas, and the the knee wraps set the other day inspired me to try something crazy without raps.

Merry christmas everybody. Many drinks of guinness will be sank tonight.

felt rough under the bar today. Think its probably more sleep orientated than anything. Not been getting alot over this xmas period but at least I never failed any reps. Weight wasn't particular heavy as such. Just didnt feel good underneath it. Out of the groove as it were I suppose!

Bench day - with a bit of bro day added in.

The plan today was to get tuesdays benching in, as lets be honest, I dont think I will be able to function let alone train on new years day. Should get deads in though before I head away for the celebrations.

    Bench - Heavy day
    bar x lots x 3
    135 x 5 x 2
    175 x 3 x 2
    225 x 2
    245 x 2
    270 x 2
    270 x 2
    270 x 2
    280 x 2
    225 x 10 touch n go

    Swiss bar clean and press
    110 x 5
    135 x 5
    145 x 5
    165 x 5
    165 x 5
    135 x 12 *only clean 1st rep
    135 x 12

    Chins
    5 sets of 3
    1 set of 2

just simply doing these is enough of a challenge for me haha, let alone progressing every week

    Incline Tate Presses
    3 sets of 15

    DB alternating curls
    3 sets of 20

the clean with the swiss bar is a hell of a lot easier than a barbell! The press however, not so much, will continue to build overheads. Im not going to lie though, despite the comp calls and pauses tonight, my lifts this week havent felt great except for deadlifts, I'm starting to worry I'm going to have one of those meets where I get a big deadlift PR and not a whole lot else. I guess we'll see as it develops, this is the last week of this wave and shit starts getting heavy and reps drop, percentages increase etc. Where the real testicular fortitude will be tested. Here's to hoping I'm just having a funny week.

thanks B! they are much easier on the wrist and I find them alot easier to clean than a normal bar. Good for the tricep power obviously too, I think they will be a staple in my overheads from now!

Squat day - Speed an acc.

    Squat
    bar x alot x alot
    135 x 10
    175 x 5
    225 x 5
    275 x 3
    ---
    325 x 2
    325 x 2
    325 x 2
    325 x 2
    325 x 2
    325 x 2
    Add reverse band
    425 x 2

minimal rest, always pushing the pace on Speed days. Trading off sets as usual.

Close stance high bar squats/oly shoes/oly style? whatever haha
    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    365 x 5
    415 x 5
    355 x 8

    Leg press
    4 sets of 15 @ 6 plates

    Back raise
    4 sets of 15

brought my comp squat stance in a tad, maybe only an inch or two and I was blowing the reps up like a joke today, think the OLY squats are doing the trick, going to keep pushing them. Pretty sure its just noob gains and I am going to exploit the shit out of them in a linear fashion for all its god damn worth!

So glad to finally have normality back to the schedule though, I've actually lost weight over the holidays which says alot. Will be competing feb 3rd in the 265 class as the jump is like 235-265 (New IPF classes), there is not a chance in hell im dropping down so may aswel try and fill out the class all in good time.(I plan on being a 308 power bear one day!) Was bang on 250 tonight with clothes on, so got some work to do weight and strength wise! thank god im still young, even that excuse is slipping away from me though LOL!
