The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Wanna bloat up for good? Just spend the summer break here in Italy, and BANG you're 315 so fast you'll wonder if we put Anavar in our pasta.

haha, it always happens when I start drinking frequently/going out more etc. Its like a nasty Bi-product. I lost loads over the summer last year not even intentionally. Obviously its not as good for training as it is the social life though!

    Assistance day

Swiss bar clean and push press
    bar x lots
    65 x 10 x 2
    110 x 5 x 2
    155 x 3
    155 x 3
    155 x 3
    170 x 3
    180 x 3
200 x 1 (PR) could just about clean and press this with a normal bar two weeks ago.

    Fat man conditioning medley.
    1)Farmers walk with 265lbs - up/down x 1 (about 20 metres)
2)110lb plate. pick up - run up/down in front of body x1
    3)Pick up punch bag/shoulder - up/down x 1

    3 rounds altogether.

    1a) Barbell rows - 3 sets of 15 @ 135
    2a) Tricep pushdowns - 3 sets of 15

    1b) Curls -3 sets of 15
    2b) Reverse Pec dec - 3 sets of 15

good session. Overhead strength is coming on very quickly, I had a rep or two in the tank with the 200 but one was the goal for now! Will keep working them up. The little circuit got the old ticker and lungs working. They're pretty fun and mentally challenging to do too. Once we've got the implements I cant see it taking long for strongman to devour my interests

Great overhead strength there. Conditioning work looks fun, too. Bet you were gasping after!

Interesting hearing you talk about possible future use. Not my thing but I'll be very interested to see how it pans out for you.

    Thanks alot fella's

    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    405 x 1
    440 x 1
    475 x 1
    495 x 1
    510 x 2

    Snatch grip deadlifts
    365 x 8
    365 x 8

    DB Shrugs
    50's x 20
    50's x 20
    50's x 20
    50's x 20

    Lat Pulldowns
    4 sets of 15

    Back raises
    BW+25lb bar held in front
    x15 reps
    x15 reps
    x20 reps

plan was to hit 3 singles above 90% ie (90/92.5/95%). I felt good at supposedly 95 so pulled a double with plenty in the tank. Old PR in the gym is 520 for a very hard double so I should be good for a modest 5-10lb PR come meet time. Thats all I'm aiming for. want a 9/9 day

in other news we visited our local and asked for some kegs, they give us four, we just gotta crack em open and fill them now. Will be awesome for trying to clean and loading races etc. I'll get round to it saturday I think just in time for my assistance day so will either get some vids or pics of them or me using them!

    100's x 8

    DB standing press
    45 x 10
    45 x 10
    45 x 10

    Band Fly
    3 sets of 15

    Pushdowns
    5 sets of 20

    Ab roller

    2 sets of 10

    Decline sit up
    2 sets of 15

standard speed day. Pushed the pace and tried to obliterate my training partner with rest periods today, He goes, I go. The last few reps on the pushdowns felt like my triceps were being stabbed. Its funny how effective you can make sessions without having to go ridiculously heavy to feel something 'working'

Love the fast, in, out and done sessions! I've noticed the same with tris. It seems I see better results (stregnth and size) when I go low weight, high volume. Just blows them up!

Yep, its good to challenge yourself with something more than just the weight on the bar. Reps, timed rest periods etc. Training should be enjoyable, not like another job.

    Squat night - reps

    Squats
    bar x lots x lots
    135 x 5
    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    365 x 2
    405 x 2
    440 x 2

dont be decieved. I know its not alot of reps per say, but the plan tonight and at this point in training was to work upto 85% for a double. Nice and easy.

    SSB GM's
    145 x 8
    145 x 8
    145 x 8

    Lunges
25lb keg im yet to fill above head.
    x15
    x15
    x15

    Close stance high bar squat
    135 x 50

    Ab roller
    50 reps

fantastic assault on the body tonight. Real character building session. The 50 rep set tested all of our testicular fortitudes. Two of the lads actually got progressively whiter as the set went on. My top set at 440 moved alot more convincgly than last heavy days programmed 3 doubles with it. Knew I was off that day. No problems today though.
