The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

haha it was certainly a moment to behold, its been on its way out for about a year, and probably not very safe to squat in anymore but fuck it, i wont it for a few weeks now. I was descending nice and I could feel it was moving then pop... the material ripped or something shattered in the buckle and I could sense all the lads looking round at each other spotting thinking has he just blew out his knee or his sphincter!?

Took it down the extra few inches regardless and come up nice still. Wasnt that calm about it after id finished from under the bar though. piece of sh..

HAHA less of that bruiser! As I said above its been on its death bed for a while! I find it ironic titan sell new buckles separately for the belts so its obviously a massive design flaw which a lot of people have suffered with. Cant knock them too much though, they do a lot for the sport and we'd be no where without them.

That sounds like an absolutely awesome drink/way to get it down you! Going to have get some fruit juices by the sounds of things!

    Sure... It's Titan's fault... Lol

I like using grapefruit juice because it can double the effects of supplements. That's why a lot of medications have a warning DO NOT TAKE WITH GRAPEFRUT JUICE. I notice a huge difference when I use it.

haha it is! My waist is ever decreasing and my lats are ever increasing, going to take off one day!

why is that then? something to do with how it enters the bloodstream faster with sugars/simple carbs if I had to take a guess!?

    85 x 20
    100's x 30

    Wide grip lat pulldowns
    4 sets of 15

    Barbell Shrugs/DB shrugs
    225 x 10 x 3 - 50 x 20 x 3

    Bent over side laterals
    4 sets of 20 @ 15lbs

    Saturday

    Fat man Press medley
    round 1
50lb kettle bell x 5 reps each hand (clean and press)
70lb DB one arm shoulder press x 5 reps each hand (clean and press)
Military press 135lbs - 1 minute to do as many as possible - 12 reps

    round 2
50lb kettle bell x 5 reps each hand (clean and press)
80lb DB one arm shoulder press x 5 reps each hand (clean and press)

    5 sets of 20

Close grip bench cluster set @ 135
    30 reps
    6 reps
    5 reps
    1 rep

The back day will start traditionally with deadlifts as of next week. Getting some good pressing volume in the way we did today is so much motivating and fun compared to just standing there and pressing a bar above your head for a few sets. Shoulders/arms glorified bro day that will be from now on for a few weeks. Once again I am truly humbled at the fact the WSM competitors use 210lb circus dumbells for pushing 10-11 reps in this type of press. You dont appreciate how strong these guys are untill you try something in the same manner of which they compete. I want a log more than anything right now.

100's for 30's on the kroc rows? Grip strength will never be the limiting factor.

It was a strange strange noise and moment. At least I knew what was going on though ha! I do indeed use the same belt for all 3. Bench also. Been a good belt and has lasted me about 2 years I think.

    Deadlift/back

    Deadlift
all beltless (yes you are going to have to endure me being a belt ninja for a few weeks)
    135 x 10 x 2
    225 x 8
    315 x 3 x 2
    355 x 15

2'' Snatch grip block pull - 4 second eccentric
    once again, no belt
    315 x 8
    315+25 chain x 8
    315+25 chain x 8

    Kroc rows
    70 x 15
    80 x 15
    95 x 15
    105 x 25 right arm/21 left

    Meadows rows
    2 plates x 10
    2 plates x 10
    2 plates x 10
    2 plates x 10

    DB shrugs
    4 sets of 20

    Seated DB rear laterals
    4 sets of 20

    Back raises
    3 sets of 10

this was horrible, Going to to everything beltless for a while but dont worry, I'm not going to be one of the assholes who goes on about it all the time and makes outlandish statements like I will pull 100lbs more with a belt on. Seems to be an on going trend of lifters claiming they have torn things here and there and yet are still doing PR's etc. (you aren't impressing me nobody but the youtube fans.)

The deadlifts sucked but was all pretty strong, it hurt my hands more than anything, but left me with an obnoxious pump in the lower back, moved into the snatch grip pulls and got the idea for a slow negative from an old buddy of mine and i've never felt anything blow my back up like it. Meadows rows are pretty cool too.

    bench/chestri's

    Bench
    bar x 20 x few grips
    95 x 20
    135 x 10
    175 x 10
    225 x 15
thumbs from smooth- 3 cnt pause
    225 x 5
    225 x 5

    Close grip incline
    200 x 5
    200 x 5

    Flat DB- Timed sets
    45's x 43 seconds
    45's x 1 minute
    45's x 1 minute

    Nosebreakers
    3 sets of 15 @ 65lbs

    Tricep Pushdowns
    2 sets of 50

    Band fly
    2 sets of 50

    Standing Strict DB overheads
    4 sets of 15 @ 45's

experienced something new today, I flared my elbows out like a bitch on the last rep of the bench set and my god did I pay for it, my chest felt like it was literally going to explode. 1 set in and I was pumped as hell. Knew it was going to be fun from there, Set an awful pace on the first set of dumbells and I payed for that too not being able to get a minute. You reach a point where you cant or are struggling to lock out a 45lb dumbell press. Its almost pityful haha. Throwing in the DB's at the end in an attempt to raise shoulder volume and bring up the overheads quick.

Ditto mate. Been hovering at 100-105kg for a single for ages now. Can't imagine being able to bust it out for rep after rep like that.

squats didnt feel great today self admittedly, I forgot the chalk, didnt have any pre workout etc, but I got through and set a nice bench mark again to beat next week on both front and back squats. My mind has been elsewhere really as I've been wanting to do a strongman comp just to see what its like. Well I've found one in april, 5 events, looks pretty cool, going to train at a gym tomorrow about an hour away (which isnt ideal after tonight) to practice hopefully the logs and the yoke. Cant train the conans wheel anywhere and im still thinking about how to do the truck pull. Other event is the 495 deadlift for reps.

I hate when your "not feeling it" session crushes my great session! Lol. Good luck at the strongman event man. I've been wanting to try one too. At the very least you're gonna have a lot of fun.
