The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    haha thanks fella's!

    Tonight (Thursday deadlift)

    Deadlift
    135 x 10 x 2
    225 x 5 x 2
    315 x 2
    365 x 2 DOH
    405 x 1
    add belt
    495 x 3
    530 x 3 (PR)
    575 x 1
    595 x 1 (big PR's)

    575:

    595 video:

    Front Squats (2 count pause)
    190 x 3
    190 x 3
    190 x 3
    190 x 3
    190 x 3

    nice and snappy.

    Low neutral rows
    4 sets of 15

    CS DB rows
    4 sets of 15

    DB holds
    100's x max time
    3 sets

Wish I had slapped the biscuit on to make it an even 600lb. Was right on my limit though, got a vid of the 6 pies (575) a side. Deadlift is finally becoming somewhat respectable despite my awful build for it too. Its still no raw 800 though LOL. I think the vid of the 595 will be on my facebook as I had somebody else film it. I dont really want it slapped on there because I dont want people to know how im progressing if im honest haha, but oh well. Gotta really get my starting and head position sorted out.

Alternating between speed and heavy rep sets is really paying off for me though. Next logical goal is 6 and a half plates. Riding the PR train for all its worth at the moment.

I've been hitting rep PR's for 5's so I was expecting a big 3 repPR today and i was basically bullied into the singles! I said I'll go 250 next and the lads were like no you wont... Oh... okay then

    saturday events

    Log Clean and Press
    155 x 5
    175 x 3
    200 x 3
    210 x 3
    225 x 2
    225 x 2
    225 x 2
    Max reps (75 seconds)
    190 x 8

had a mare again today with the log, Just wasn't to be and the 225 was very awkward and hard.

    Yoke
    315 x 25m
    375 x 25m
    425 x 25m
    500 x 25m : 11 seconds. Wanted 10.

Stones over yoke (about 50'' I think)
warm up we did the 175 x 5 one over next goes

then max reps (not sure of times yet, will check vids)
    175 x 9
    245 x 4
    310 x 1

had a good day with the stones and yoke runs, was dicking around with the 310 and saying to buddy I will just have a feel of it, 5 seconds later its on my lap and all hell is breaking loose, I didn't think id stand a chance in hell but it definitely wasn't an all out effort. The yoke runs were speedy, im gonna focus more on speed as opposed to heavy as 1: it absolutely batters your legs and the spinal loading aswel as heavy squats is horrible and 2: what good is a heavy yoke if you are racing others across a course with sub max weights. Speed is what we need.

If the vids get sent over I will post them up.

Monday session and my absence this week.

Basically I am sick. Come down with an epic bout of man flu which has really knocked me about.

Monday Night it hit home hard, but I did however get some squatting in first.

    Squat
    bar x 20 x few
    135 x 10
    175 x 5
    225 x 5
    265 x 5
    315 x 5
    355 x 10

    Pause squat
    315 x 3
    315 x 3
    315 x 3

    Back raises
    2 sets of 20

    Ab roller
    2 sets of 10

all beltless and very easy. This was basically my de-load/first week back of building back up squat strength to blast past recent massive PR's even further! (thats a mouthful)

The morning before I had watched some of andy boltons training video of when he was in his prime and he was pause squatting about 505 for triples like an empty bar. Its actually frightening how much force he could generate. Thats how I am going to do my pause squats. Front squats will still be in after deads on a thursday and every monday for the next month will look similar to this one but building up in weight again. Hope I'll finish around 405 for 10-15 reps beltless.

Other than that, nothing to report except for dying and hoping to start training again saturday.

Monday night return to action... still weak as a kitten.

    Squat
    bar x lots
    135 x 5 x few
    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    385 x 5

    2 count pause squats
    315 x 5
    315 x 5
    315 x 5

    everything beltless (for now)

    Back raises
    4 sets of 15

    Ab roller
    4 sets of 8

still no where near full capacity, I did 5 and thought fuck this. Still weak and drained as hell form being ill all week, I got a good weekend of eating in and thought id come back fine. Wanted to take 405 next week for 10+ but dont think I will be no where near ready with the sub par squatting I've got in these past 2 weeks from illness. Another change in the god damn plan, although I could sneak some more in thursday after deadlifts. I guess I'll see.

    Pressing

Thanks fella's, I felt ten times better tonight, got even more good eating in and started to re build back up towards the comp in terms of pressing numbers again now...

    Strict Press
    bar x 20 x 3
    135 x 5 x 3
    155 x 5
    -----
    165 x 10
    165 x 6
    165 x 6
    165 x 6

    Incline Bench
    135 x 5
    175 x 5
    225 x 5
    225 x 5
    225 x 5

    DB extentions

    35's - 3 sets of 15

    Lateral Raise / Band Pushdown
    3 sets of 20 each

    Curls for the girls
    4 sets of 15

    Shrugs/rotators/rear delt work
3-4 sets of 15-20 reps on each

Basically a glorified shoulders/arms day. Its been effective thus far though and will add 10lbs a week to press numbers and get some decent reps in. Hoping to end on 225 for a few at end of training cycle/ comp time.

I lost about 6-7lbs from this flu so I'm pretty pissed as that will be hard to make back up and I need as much bodyweight as possible in this new strongman pursuit for things like the truck pull etc, just hoping I can put a few back on in time and hope brute strength carries me through, I know I've got strong legs, so thats always a help. Squatting is all good, but when a optimus prime is staring you in the face its a different story.

also heres an interesting video, you think yeah he might do a load of deadlift reps as he walks upto it... oh no
