thanks gaz, my upper body volume is way behind my lower at the moment so need to get a good amount of work in on my only real day dedicated to it, all this strongman shizz is very whole body/ lower body orientated!

    Deadlifts

Some generic stretching/ foam rolling and elliptical to get 'warm'

    Front squats (paused 2 count)
    bar x few x few
    135 x 5 x 2
    175 x 5
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3
    200 x 3

    Deadlift
    135 x 5 x few
    225 x 5 x 2
    315 x 3
    405 x 2
-this is where things get interesting.
    (75 second time limit)
    425 x 10
    375 x 12

Finished off with some upper back/ lat work and abs.

Still dont think I have completely shook this flu, those sets really drained me, and im still coughing up some nasty shit haha. I'll spare the details. Can only get easier from here though. Standard approach to my deadlifts now until comp time for anybody that cares. Alternating between heavy and speed except my 'Heavy days' will look as follows.

Today: 425 reps (75seconds) drop to 90% repeat
week 2: Speed 8x3 minimal rest
    week 3: 440 reps (75seconds) drop to 90% repeat
week 4: speed 8x3 minimal rest
week 5: 465 reps (75 seconds) drop to 90% repeat
    week 6: speed/deload

trying to peak effectively for a 495/500 for reps event. (1 of 5 - god help me)

    saturday events at home gym.

    Swiss bar OHP
    bar x 20 x few
    110 x 5 x 2
    155 x 5
    175 x 3
    190 x 3
    200 x 3
    210 x 3

    Press medley
    floor to overhead x 5 - barbell @ 175
    Floor to overhead x 4 - keg @ 135
    Floor to overhead x 3 - Dumbell @ 100 (1 arm press)

    did this 3x

    Tyre flip/keg carry
Tyre flip 20m --- run back 20m with 135 keg
    40 seconds
    39 seconds
    38 seconds

got a tad faster each time

that was it. Was still a pretty productive session, overheads have come a long way since the Swiss bar presses all had some in the tank and pretty much all of it were PR's. Shame I couldnt get upto other gym though to use the real kit, made do with what I had at home gym.

    Monday night squats

    Squat (beltless)
    bar x 20 x few
    135 x 5
    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    365 x 1
    405 x 10
    425 x 6

    both beltless rep PR's

SSB Pause squats (jersey iron inspired BIG B/LITTLE B, hope you're reading)
    325 x 3
    345 x 3
    345 x 3

    45 degree back raise
3 sets of 15 - concentrating on hard arch at top and hold

    Ab roller
    3 sets of 10

Back on track. Previous bests were 405 x 3 with no belt and 425 x 2 no belt both in different sessions. Cant wait to begin adding belt, and knee wraps back etc now. Anybody would think I was a gear whore. Seems like manipulating the smallest things in training seems to be working. Felt good to be under the SSB bar again, havent used it in agesssssss. (actually believe since before November last year for squats) and I felt ridiculously stronger under it.

    Pressing

    Strict Overheads
    bar x 20 x few
    95 x 5 x 2
    135 x 5
    155 x 5
    185 x 5
    185 x 3
    185 x 3
    185 x 3
    185 x 3

    Close Grip 2 board
    225 x 5
    265 x 5
    295 x 3
    315 x 1
    325 x 1

    Incline Bench
    235 x 3
    235 x 3
    235 x 3

    Big superset
    a) side raises - 5 x 15
    b) pushdowns- 5 x 15
    c) cable curls - 5 x 15

    Reverse pec dec
    5 sets of 20

I was awful tonight. Really bugged me aswel, I've done sets of 10 with 175 on overheads so I was just plain weak today, even incline, last week 225 for sets of 5, whats 10lbs really? .. I know the source though, saturdays pressing volume was pretty high with odd implements too etc so I should of seen it coming. Still bugged me though. Going to experiment with 2 board to see if the overload carries over to overhead lockouts + stronger triceps.

Getting real antsy, dont know if its due to the comp looming over my head and im fired up or its nerves for a totally different sort of comp. Who knows. who cares. Im ranting, speed deads thursday, and hopefully get a good proper events session in the weekend. sigghhhhhhhhh.

    add bands
    135 x 6

    315 x 3
    315 x 3

    Front squats
    135 x 10
    175 x 5
    225 x 5
    all paused upto this point
    265 x 3
    315 x 3
    335 x 3 (pr)
    365 x 1 (pr)

    Big tri set
    A) DB rows - 4 sets of 15
    B) Facepulls - 4 sets of 20
    C) Shrugs - 4 sets of 25

Some gay curls to finish off

focus tonight was on speed and technique in the deadlifts. I filmed a few sets to see if I could get my head position sorted and I achieved what I wanted tonight + some front squat PR's too. I'll try 405 in the coming weeks and get a vid!

    haha energy held up fine!

gay curls are the things all the bro's do, they seem to contract their biceps in a manner which is offensive to my eyes. Curls for the girls, tri's for the guys!

    Monday night SQ/DL

little change of schedule this week and for next few hopefully so I can train with some real strongmen of a friday night.

    Squats
    bar x few
    135 x few
    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    365 x 3
    405 x 1 add belt
    add wraps
    465 x 8 (2 rep PR)

    Deadlift
    135 x 5
    225 x 3
    315 x 3
    405 x 1
add 75 second time limit (comp specific)
    440 x 12

Wasted a lot of time last attempt at this rolling the bar out in front of me and back in, today I felt really good, squats must have loosened me up so I gripped and ripped. Beat previous (max reps in 75 seconds attempts) weight of 425 by two reps. Not bad, more weight and reps.

    Ab roller
    4 sets of 10

not a bad session at all. I didn't feel as strong as I have on squats and the weight did feel quite heavy on my back but im pretty sure its because of the nature of saturdays events and the front squat PR, the thursday before that too. A lot of mid back work. Busted through and got a PR though. Split will be alot more sensible as of now and take these things into account.
