    what do you drink during your workout?

    curious if anyone drinks a weight gainer or protein shake DURING their workout?
    i drink cold water during mine but was wondering if a shake would be better?

    shakes usually give me the shits anyway so might not be a good idea

    just water. if dieting, i will bring some bcaas to drink quickly before switching from lifting to cardio.

    preworkout is a mix of dextrose and whey

    speed stack from abb good drink. prob should consume at least half the bottle prior to workout.

    If I have a pre-workout drink I will usually start sipping it as I warm up and finish it about halfway through my training session. From there I will either have water, carbohydrate drink, BCAA drink, or combination of carbohydrates/BCAA's.

    Water is fine if you have a sensitive stomach, but some carbohydrates or BCAA's may be helpful for longer sessions depending on what your pre-workout meal consists of.

    A litre of water with:

    1 scoop vanilla whey
    1 scoop fierce berry Gatorade powder

    Sometimes I drink a shake during the last half of work-out.....after my first main lift.

    Normally just water but my pre and post workout shakes are big.
    Squat briefs only 625 @ 210
    Bench geared 525 @ 210
    Deadlift geared 650 @ 220

    Bcaa's leave me with energy at the end of a workout....I like using them, they are just a bit pricey. I am still deciding whether it is worth the price (and expensive shipping).

    BCAA's for me. I agree that they help keep my energy levels up during the workout and do help increase my recovery speed.

    water.. honestly i dont see the point of drinking all of the ( during workout drinks )... ive been an "athlete" my whole life and i push my self to the limits.. when youre about to get sick from pushing so hard i dont see how you can drink anything BUT water or maybe a Gatorade..

    whey during a workout? lol id throw up.. honestly what good does it do?

    Powdered Gatorade mixed in water. Between 1-3 scoops depending on how I feel.

    BCAA's during the workout. Then I usually do about 10-15 minutes of cardio followed by my post-workout (Nitrean/dextrose/creatine/beta-alanine) immediately after or towards the end of the cardio.

    Have you ever tried them? Just curious. BCAA's helped me break that barrier and push even further, that and some DMAA, ha.

    i am actually gonna try the bcaa's everyone seems to say that they work.

    tom183 i didnt mean to sound like an ass in that post lol. i meant that theres no way i could drink whey during a workout. even the best tasting whey taste horrible with water i always have to drink mine with milk... mixing it with water is a last resort for me.
