I'm thinking about trying Starting Strength, so I was looking around my local gym for a good spot to do power cleans. It's an 'average' gym so there's not a lot of room to position a 7-foot olympic bar on the floor. It's doable if I move a bench or two, but just barely. I did notice we have 5-foot olympic bar up against a wall. Using that would help a lot at least from a logistical point. Are there any issues or problem with using a shorter bar for the power clean?
