The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    the bicep 'vein'

is there a secret to getting that vein along your bicep to pop out?
i'm 90 kilos and can do 22.5kg dumb bell bicep curls or 55kg for bar bell curls but yet still don't have that bicep vein
i think my biceps are fairly strong for my size (please correct me if i'm delusional) and i have loads of veins from the elbow down but no bicep vein.

    what gives?
    H - 185cm (6'1") W - 85 kg (188 lbs) Age - 38

Showing veins is mainly down to body fat %.
I wouldn't worry about it, work on the compound movements like deadlifts, they will grow your arms more then curls.
Eat big. Sleep big. Lift big. Get big.

its about diet and low bf%, then genes and where your upper arm veins happens to sit.
it be very rare if you got your bf% down low and you still didn't see any veins on the bicep.
But that one thick vein that snakes over the bicep that some guys get, diet won't really give you that. its like dimples or cleft chin , some guys got it and some don't.

Always wondered this myself. I never had it show (and it still doesn't unless I'm pumped) however it seems to have developed recently with a little reduction in body fat (2-4%) and more focus on bicep training. Tis weird considering it showed after 1-2 months of eating less, with not that much noticeable definition increases elsewhere.

There are much more important things to worry about...unless you WANT to look like that guy in the video (scary). But hey, at least he's "ripped" - lol

It's actually called the cephalic vein man. Low bodyfat does usually make it more prominent, as does profuse sweating. Training the biceps with slightly higher reps may be beneficial as well, due to a better pump. An often overlooked factor is blood pressure. Just as some folks have a BP in the higher portion of the normal range, others may tend to be in the lower end. If you restrict your sodium TOO much (not easy to do), to the point where you can't get a really good pump, this can sometimes be detrimental as well. Lastly, vascularity (all over) is always more prominent in a well hydrated body. Make sure you're drinkin' lots of H2O - remember, once you feel really thirsty, you're already beginning to dehydrate. If this occurs during your workout, it can be difficult to catch up. Keep pumpin' and good luck.
