So second day of HCT, really enjoying it however I'm not feeling like its that intense. I understand that soreness isn't much of a indicator for growth but I'm not getting much of a pump or much soreness. Is this workout just frequent stimuli and i have just been alliterating myself in previous workouts? Or am i doing it wrong? here is what i did for biceps today.

Additionally, I can't do standard rack pulls or shrugs, so i have to use the smith machine (grr) because i can't get the weight at the right height otherwise! is this okay? Furthermore, i am finding working abs difficult because i can't work out how to add weight to the sit ups so i have switched it for a ab crunch machine so i can progressively overload the muscles each week, is that ok or am i being stupid?

Biceps workouts are never going to be that intense. But forcing out more reps on squats after almost reaching failure will be.
Ab machine is a good way to go. If you have a sit-up bench then you can also use that and hold weight to your chest. Or you can put a heavy weight on your feet to anchor them.
If bicep workouts they are not intense will they still produce as good results as more intense workouts?

Probably the latter. When I 1RM Deadlift then proceeded to lift 90-80% of that weight, I nearly collapsed. Max effort cluster hits are a big challenge.
