The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I'm hearing you, just basic mechanics to fine tune by next meet. Meanwhile, you deserve major props this outing. Great, and I mean great technique on the bench, and overall for that matter!!

Even though it wasn't the day you wanted, you still put up a nice total for your first multi-ply total!!! Do you think you'll get back into your Metal Jack suit or keep working in canvas?

Thanks Tone. I appreciate that. I have an Expo push/pull meet on the 18th may but after that I will be competing at the BPC Open Cup on 1st September. Maybe with your help we could bump that total over the 2K mark?

Thanks a lot Luna. It wasnt my first comp rather just my first full muti ply outing.

So after the last comp on 14th April I got an invite to compete at the Bodypower Expo at the NEC on 19th May. Really excited about this but I only have 3 training weeks to go. Tonight is the first bench session and I will finally be using my knew Jack shirt which I have had for a while but have had some fitting issues. After its second tailoring I am hoping that it is now perfect

Had a first DL session back on Monday and I missed 660 off 4'' blocks. Not too annoyed since this is my bogey height and I only missed at lockout plus its only a week after the comp. I was every shape and I couldnt get my hips fully through. The startring position at this height is AWFUL for me.

Glad to see your back, that's pretty close to train for another meet. Hopefully your newly altered Jack shirt will fit perfect for you. What did you need altered on it?

Thanks Brian. With regards to the two competitions just one month apart, lets say I got a rude awakening last night at bench training!! Everything felt REALLY heavy.

On the shirt, I had the sleeves pinched the whole way down but they were far too tight the first time. They are a perfect fit now

Bench Training - 25th April (3 weeks out from Expo)

    *rumble rolled
focused on pec and lower back

    Bench
    Barx30?
    154x10
    220x3
    264x3
    sling shot
    354x2
    new shirt on
    374x3 - 3 board
    440x3 - 3 board
    506x1 - 2 board
    550x1 - 2 board
    changed to old shirt
600x1 - 2 board (not quite locked on right arm)
    506x3 - 2 board

Notes: This was all I did. I will do some accessory on Saturday with my upper back stuff. Still nursing a damaged right pec and in all honesty everything felt brutally heavy and moved slowly. Most likely because I am not fully recovered from the comp on 14th April. However, because everything felt heavy and slow I automatically blamed the shirt (as you do ) as it was the first time I had been in it properly after having it tailored to fit. This wasnt the case. Everything felt just as awful in my Ace shirt.

I have made the decision not to squat on Friday as there is no rush with that since the Expo is push pull. I will still be doing a moderate lower accessory day though.

It happens brother. That's why I don't try to jump right back on the horse after a meet. But in your case you sorta have to, lol. At least it's a push/pull and you don't have to worry about squatting heavy these next couple weeks.

Yeah, I will rest up well afterwards. Next meet wont be until 1st September.

Youre right though, its only push/pull. Some great prizes on the line so all the big boys turn up for this. It should be a lot of fun. One of the prizes (I think) is a an all paid trip to Vegas to compete at the WPC Worlds.

B, all I want is that 600lb bench monkey off my back and when you smoke 600+ on Saturday, well, I will want to get it that bit more 600 bench and a 660 pull and I will be a happy man They are the numbers I wanted to hit at my last meet so I will be taking them as second attempts this time around.

Im going with the jack. The lockout def felt better in comparison. Regardless, the biggest issue last night was me, not either of the shirts.

I will prob just work up to 640 off the 1" blocks next week and then take my opener from the floor on the 11th April and that will be me done. The shortest training cycle ever. Just 19 days out already
