The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

In the spirit of the holidays, what lifting stuff are you getting

It's funny, whenever I get around the holidays I usually end up buying stuff for myself. Yes, I get everyone their stuff as well. I guess I just get in a spending mood. I recently purchased plate holder attachments for my power cage and squat shoes. Even thinking about getting an ab wheel.

Who wants to or is getting what?

    Supplements I currently take: Nitrean , BCAA , Creatine 500 , Multi-Plus , Fish Oil

I started early. On Saturday I went to Lowes and got a wheel barrow and some hardware. I took the wheel barrow top and made a dragging sled out of it, a 2x4, some u-bolts, and some rope. All in all it cost me about 30 bucks.

I also got some lumber and made a box for squating. My girlfriend is getting her PT certification. I also got some mini-bands and some new lifting straps (I had surgery on my right hand twice this past year so my grip is still weak).

Got the Wei-Riu Warriors. They were one of the cheaper lifting shoes that came in my size. Figured I would not be putting a crazy amount of work in them anyway, so I'll give them a shot.

I'm asking Santa for a 4-ply poly Overkill suit to play with..... As much as I like my canvas I'd like to try a heavy poly suit.

It'll be after the recovery from Christmas shopping LOL!, but we'll finally be getting a quality squat bar. The one we have is a budget priced 'Brand X' (being kind to the company here). It was warped right out of the box! It has got us by training for about 2 years but it's time to get a Texas, Mastedon or other quality bar. Still shopping around. Best deal I can find for the best bar (new or used). Leaning towards the Texas Bar. Next gift occasion I have a REAL deadlift bar on my wish list!

I bought myself some elbow sleeves, knee wraps, and mini bands.

May pick up a couple of things for the garage gym as well (stone mold, etc.).

I got a new 3-ply Katana to break in while I wait for my 3-ply Overkill gets taken in and a new 1-ply Katana just in case I decide to try a single ply comp. I guess you could also count my multi-ply Overkill briefs. I ordered them a few months ago, but they did arrive in December.

My old land lord sells stone molds and other strongman stuff. Slaters. I used to go in and pay my rent and see logs, axel wheels, etc.

I usually end up getting myself something training related too.

Probably get one of these http://www.flexcart.com/members/elit...e=grenade+ball I think it will be a fun grip thingy.
A child does not learn to squat from the top down. In other words, he does not suddenly make a conscious decision one day to squat. Actually, he is squatting one day and make the conscious decision to stand. Squatting precedes standing in the developmental sequence. This is the way a child's brain learns to use the body as the child develops movement patterns. Therefore, a child is probably crawling, rocks back into a squatting position with the back completely relaxed and the hips completely flexed, and stands when he has enough hip strength. This approach makes a lot of sense and can be applied to relearning the deep squat movement if it is lost. -Gray Cook

I just expanded my gym (Eaton Barbell) from 1,400 sq ft to over 4,000 sq ft. Added 14 ft Rogue wall mount power rack, Turf style carpet, Plyo boxes, Strongman Equipment, etc. I guess that is considered my Christmas gift to myself. Every time I walk in to the gym, I still cant believe my dream has came true!!!! Here are a few pics.
