    Big Raw Bench

The guy did his last attempt (285 kg, 628.3 lbs) so easily he looked like he had an extra 5 kilos in him.

Extraordinary presses! But one thing is strange, no un rack, press, up or rack orders from the judges. No pause at the bottom.... weird.-

This guy and a few Europeans are flirting with the 700 raw mark. For a while I thought the best raw benchers were in the USA than out of the blue this guy and a bunch of Russians hit big numbers. Great stuff.

The USA still has the best raw benchers in the world. Scot Mendelson's 715 is as perfect as it gets. And, a lift that I think gets overlooked too often is John Henderson's 711. Until someone beats those lifts, we are still the best.

Still good lfts by the Russians.

I'm with Rhodes on this one. There are only two guys who have ever gone over 700 raw and they are both American. It seems like so many guys are enfatuated with the Eastern Bloc countries that credit is often forgotten where it is due.

Also, I have take gotten some criticism about short pauses on some of my 600's. Lazlo's bench at 300 kilos just above has zero pause (the pauses on the first vid were great). Donnie Thompson was right. He laughs how we praise these lifters from other countries and then piss on our own.

Lazlo is a super strong guy as are many other Eastern Bloc lifters, but none of them are at 700 yet. That's a big nut to crack. I remember how it took me three years to go from 585 to 600. That 7's gotta be a crazy psychological barrier.

I don't mean to degrade the American lifters, but I just find it cool because these European lifters aren't really known of in our Western world. I do think it would be cooler if Mendy stuck with Raw lifting though.

No, I appreciate you putting up the links. I love watching strong lifting. I never thought you degraded American lifting.

You are right Mike. My mistake on the calls, I had my volume really low.
In IPF generally they request a slightly longer pause, more like this:

By any means I am diminishing the lift, just trying to justify my comment biased on the IPF rules where I compete.

    Great lifts all the way!

RhodeHouse I agree with what you said but I think there are more 600+ raw benchers in Europe that are comming close to the 700 mark than in America.

I'd put my money on Al Davis before any other European. Close only counts in horshoes and handgrenades.

Really? Who? I'd love to know who they are because we still kick ass and are still the best.

Why do people think the Russians are so great? Don't get me wrong, the guy is strong. I missed his lift on the first video because he was wearing a thong and there was a girl with her tits out. Somethings are more important to me.

But, seriously, why do people think the Russians are so great? None of those lifts made me wet myself.

Don't be a Commie. We already have one in office.

Donnie Thompson was right. Americans suck Russian dick and bash our guys. What is happening to this country?

PLwatch said Laszlo was Hungarian. No reason to be biased saying whether or not if Americans are better than the Europeans or vice versa. Having competitve lifters all over the world, not just in America makes it even better doesn't it?

Grass is always greener on the other side, thats why people think Samuri Warriors are unbeatable even though they would have been cut into shit by a real swordsman.

    Strong benching in the vids!!

Are yall only counting contest lifts, because I believe the late Nick Winters was right around 700 in the gym at one time.

Yea nick was a beast, I think his genetics were possibly second to none in the elite bench specialist field.

I don't give a flying f#$k if he's Mexican. I'm biased because I'm an American and I'm tired of listening to whiny, weaklings suck foreign dick. I could care less about the rest of the world's lifters. What I know is we are the best. Until someone beats those numbers that Mendelson and Henderson put up, we are the top dog.

I'm not taking anything away from those lifts. Great numbers and solid lifts. However, Americans get the exact same calls. Quick press calls, heaving presses, all the same things that the foreign lifters get, yet our own coutrymen bitch and moan about American lifts, and are massaging foreign nuts and claiming they are so much better than ours. Idiots!

And as far as being biased, if you're not biased toward your country's lifting you're a terrorist.
