    06/17/2013 Bench (Heavy)

    Bench Press
    barxsome
    135x8
Add Green Band around bottom of bench
    135x3
    225x3
    315x1
    355xmissed lockout (very close)
    340x1
    225x8x2sets

    Shoulder Press machine
    135x15
    185x10x2sets
    225x6

    PecDec
    100x20, 120x20

    Triceps Pushdowns
    60x30, 80x30

Almost had a pretty big pr against green band. 340 was ok though. Last couple inches always suck against heavy band. Reps again next week.

Not sure exactly. It started acting up when I was using tight wraps. But I also had a car accident around that time could be part of it. My left leg was worse, had some kind of sciatica like issue again, but it has since gotten better. This was shortly before I did my best gym and meet squats, and it felt worse after the meet even after a few weeks off, so I took a break from squatting for awhile after my last full meet. I am also trying to work on my form right now and sitting back first, because usually I start with breaking at the knees which I shouldn't do.

    06/20/2013 Squat

    Squat (no belt)
    barxsome
    145x5x2sets
    235x3
    325x3
    415x3 very loose wraps

    Squat Machine
    225x10
    315x10
    405x10x2sets

    DB Curls
    30sx10
    45sx10
    60sx10
    75sx10

    Cable Curls
    3sets of 15-20

    Face Pulls
    4sets of 12 paused

Squat wasn't bad today. The knee wraps I put on without pulling them at all pretty much. My knee feels better with them on like that then not, but not great. Trying to add 10-20lbs. every couple weeks. I should be able to do 505x3 or so at least without a belt. I have been training twice per week mostly recently so assistance stuff is mixed up on different days.

You might need to open your stance up a little to allow you to sit back more. That way you won't get to much of a forward lean. This is what I'm doing now. I'm using a more wider stance with a low bar, and that allows me to sit back a little and then down. Plus, it feels better on my knee.

That's exactly what I have been trying to do also. I am apparently used to breaking at the knees first then sitting back and down so it's not the easiest to change after a long time.

    07/01/2013 Bench (heavy)

    Bench Press
    barxsome
    135x8
    225x5
    Add 2-board
    315x3
    365x3
    405x2
    435x1 easy
    445xmiss (touched too low)
    Remove board
    275x14
    185x27

    PecDec superset w/Bench Machine
    4sets of 10 each

435 was easy. Should have got 445, but I touched too low on the board and was tired to try it again. I have touched too low several times recently and need to stop doing that with heavy weight. I am very confident in 435 for sure full-range at 7 weeks out still. Should be able to get another 10-15lbs. by the meet.

Wanted to pop my head in here and say thanks for all the pointers you've given me in the past. I've found that my body reacts to heavy benching a bit easier...esp when I'm not naturally gifted in that movement. (also taking 7 months off does nothing great for strength training )

Sure. I haven't had time to look thru other people's stuff recently other than occasionally my friend Brian I have checked his training.

    07/12/2013 Deadlift (heavy)

    Deadlift
    135x5
    225x3
    315x3
    405x2
after this I tried belt and hated it so I didn't use it
    478x2
    518x1
538x1 didn't quite finish lockout, but very close

That's all I wanted to do today. I was going to do doubles with belt, but this one was very uncomfortable to set up with so I just did a few heavy sets with no belt. I am going to bring my other belt to use next two deadlift days and at the meet.

    07/15/2013 Bench Lockout/Shoulders

    Bench Press
    barxsome
    Add 4-board
    135x8
    225x8
    315x8
    405x8 PR easy

    Shoulder Press on smith machine
    95x8
    135x8
    185x8
    235x8
    285x8 PR easy

    Triceps Pushdowns
    4sets of 10 heavy

    Seated Triceps on cable
    2sets of 30 light

Everything was good today. Could have done several more reps on board press and shoulder press on heaviest sets. My best previous was 405x7 on 4-board and 275x5 on that shoulder press. Full-range bench later this week.

    07/18/2013 Deadlift/Legs

    Deadlift from 3" deficit
    135xsome
    Add Green Bands
    135x3x2sets
    135x3x4sets belt
    155x3
    175x3

    Squat Machine
    225x5
    315x5
    405x5
    495x5
    585x5

    Straight-arm Pulldowns
    3sets of 15

    Hip Abductors/Adductors
    2sets of 15 each

Working on form with deadlift and getting used to belt before the meet. I used my other belt which was much better. Very hard band setup to pull against though. I think I will use this setup for my last few deadlifts before the meet but increase the weight each time.

Also, knee felt best yet today. 5pps bothered it last time and 6pps today did not. I know it's not the same as an actual squat but still an improvement.

    07/20/2013 Heavy Bench

    Bench Press
    barxsome
    135x8
Add doubled Red Bands (close to old purples, all sets stop a little before touching)
    135x5
    185x5
    225x5
    275x4
    275x3
    245x6

    Bench Machine
    3sets of 15 light/paused

    PecDec
    2sets of 25 light

    Triceps Rope Pushdowns
    2sets of 25 light

Bench went well today. Going to do lockouts once or twice more and these twice more before the meet. I think this setup with a red band doubled on each side was similar, probably a little harder than the green band under the bench that we were using.

No other assistance today. I have to say this is the hardest band setup I have ever used (same as last week). 235x3 was not easy. I think I will do these twice more before the meet. 600 might feel easy after these lol. Benching Saturday since shoulders still felt sore today.
