Opener will be 407. I plan to do 440 second and 451 on third (more if 440 was very easy).

01/28/2014 Bench (last bench before meet)

    Bench Press
    barxsome
    135x8
    225x3
    Add 2-board
    315x3
    385x1
    415x1
    445x1 very easy
    3-board
    465x1 easy

    Bench Machine
    100x20x3sets

    Plate-loaded Dip Machine
    275x20x3sets

    PecDec
    100x15x3sets paused

Last bench day before the meet in 10 days. 445 2-board felt easier than a opener. I thought it felt like only a plate was on the bar when pressing it. 465 on 3-board was also very easy. Felt like I could have done at least 485-500 on either board today. Hopefully the meet will feel this good. I may go above 451 on a third if so.

    01/30/2014 Deadlift/Light Back

    Deadlift (no belt)
    135x8
    225x5
    315x5
    405x8 easy

    Shrugs on Calf Raise
    200x20x3sets

    Row Machine
    100x15x3sets

    Straight-arm Pulldowns
    40x10x3sets

That's all today. I could have actually done more reps with 405 but I had planned only 8, as there is really no reason to squat or pull heavy till after the meet. But the fact that 8 was still not hard is good for me with that weight. Might do one more very light day Monday.

02/07/2014 Bench at Raw Unity Meet

    Weigh-in: 265.5lbs.

I believe the scale was light though, especially since it was on rubber mats. I think I was probably about 268-270lbs.

    Warmups
    barxsome
    135x8
    225x3
    275x2
    315x1
    365x1

Everything felt really easy of course.

    1st attempt: 185kgs. (407.8lbs.) 3 whites, very easy

    2nd attempt: 200kgs. (440.9lbs.) 3 whites, pretty easy- 5.9lbs. PR

    3rd attempt: 205kgs. (451.9lbs.) missed halfway

I had a decent day but not a great day at the meet. My 2nd felt pretty easy, but I thought from that I could get 10-15lbs. more. It also felt easier than the 435lbs. bench press I got last meet. Video of this lift is on my facebook page thanks to my friend Mindy who videotaped it. My 3rd attempt felt easy off the bottom, but stalled about halfway or a little higher. So, I obviously need to get stronger at lockout still. I have also had a hard time with getting a heavy 3rd attempt after a heavy 2nd attempt the last few years even when the second feels easy. I also did not use leg drive at all (not that I usually do, but occasionally I have gotten a little bit, but I could tell not at all this meet). This is something I still have no clue how to use in benching pretty much. I believe my strongest day this training cycle was my last heavy bench day before the meet rather than at the meet though. I really felt even 460lbs. may have went if I had as good of a day as that at the meet.

Most importantly though, I got a pr and my shoulders and everything feels good. I will definitely be continuing with benching once every 9 to 10 days. It has worked well for over half a year and I feel consistently good in training this way. I think I may go for a 450lbs. bench on my second next time I do a meet, rather than making a less than 5lbs. jump to 445.

    11/13/2013 Deadlift/Biceps

Reverse Band Deadlift (small blue bands, no belt, 7ft. stiff bar)
    135x8
    225x5
    315x5
    405x5

    Cable Curls (each arm)
    40x8
    60x8
    80x8
    90x5
    40x20

Decided to train today. I didn't feel like doing too much yet this week. 495x5 beltless with the small reverse bands and the shitty 7ft. bar was definitely one of my better pulls though. I think I may actually pull a deadlift pr this year.

02/20/2014 Bench at North Port Barbell

    Bench Press
    barxsome
    155x8
    220x5
    264x5
    330x5
    Add carpet
    375x5

    Shirted Bench w/denim shirt
    3-board
    420x1 barely touched, too light
    452x1 shitty rep
    463x1 much better
    2-board
    485x1 ok
    507x1 shitty rep
    507x1 much better

    Triceps Pushdowns close-grip
    70x15x4sets

Went fairly light today raw only to an easy 5 reps first day back benching after the meet. Shoulders still feel a little sore but ok otherwise. Worked on technique with the shirt with fairly light weight. Only a couple reps felt good, but much better than how I started with the shirt today. I will be working on it more.

I believe the numbers at the last meet I did were not exactly right. 45lbs. texas power bars were used for the bench (and also 45lbs. bars for the deadlift). The bars were counted as 20kgs= 44.09lbs. So, everyone's numbers on bench and deadlift (as well as the women's squat that used the 45lbs. bar instead of 55lbs.) should be 1lbs. (or more accurately 0.91 lbs. more). I was just thinking about this today. Not so much because I care what 1lbs. more is on my bench record, but moreso that I am 1lbs. closer to 500lbs. raw. So my bench was actually 441.8lbs. on my second. And I missed 452.8lbs. on a third.

Hm, will be interesting to see what they say. Anyways, great job at the meet April, very impressive!

Thank you. Just as long as it keeps heading in the right direction each meet I can't be too unhappy about that even if it's not what I want yet.

Not much has been said yet. I don't expect or really want anything to be changed. I just thought it was interesting and to know that as being the case. With hundreds of pounds on the bar, even with calibrated plates, they can be a couple pounds off either way. It would be pretty ridiculous to attempt to weigh every single plate to the hundredth or thousandth of a pound or kilogram accurately and label and add them for each lifter's attempt. By face value, it should be what I said though, and if I were directing a meet, I would take that into account as being the weight lifted. It may even be enough to change a few lifters' attempts in the meet when you are talking about records or prs.

    02/24/2014 Squat

    Squat (no belt)
    barxsome
    145x5
    235x3
    325x3
    345x3
    375x3
    395x3
    Down set:
    235x8

    Knee Extensions
    Red bandx20x3sets each leg

That's all today. Way too many people squatting on one monolift, it was ridiculous and took forever, and I only had enough time to do the knee extensions and no other assistance work before I had to leave. Anyways, squatting didn't feel too great starting off. 325 felt like I didn't warm up enough (or maybe waiting too long between sets) and my knee felt pretty sore today. I took small jumps the rest of the time, but each set felt better. 395 was definitely the best and easiest set. I also need new shoes to squat with, and I have just been using my regular shoes recently, which I tend to be too far on my toes and front of my feet. I will be getting some in the next couple weeks though for sure, so that should feel better. I will also be squatting more often now than I have been for a long time. My goal is to be up to 465x3 with no belt and without much or any knee pain or instability in the next 4 squat sessions.

Good day. First time I tried 315 with a barbell overhead. It felt pretty easy. I could have done another couple reps with 275 also. Missed 325 though. Think I was tired by then. I will have to try 320-325 first next time. 315 is a pretty big PR since the last time I did shoulder press with a barbell was about 9-10 months ago and I only got 285 for a hard single then.

Squats felt ok tonight. Definitely better than last week, and I also stayed on my heels a lot better. I didn't feel like I was on my toes at all this time, even though I still need some squat shoes which I plan to try to find later this week sometime at the converse or reebok outlet stores in Orlando. 435x3 felt ok. It was not hard, but I did feel a little pain in my knee on the first rep, but not the other two. I stopped there today. One thing I'm not too happy with still is 325 and above, the weight still is feeling heavy on my back (325 feels comparable to how 505 used to feel), even though it is easy to do. Hopefully this changes soon as I start going heavier on it. Deadlift next week, then back to squatting twice.

Shoulders felt pretty sore today warming up. Not sure why. Everything felt easy raw, but it was a good day to put a shirt on after a fairly easy weight. I didn't notice it at all with the shirt on. As far as shirted benching, it definitely felt better than last week. Touching the 2-board was much better. 1-board attempt was completely different. I couldn't touch and just started to dump it forward and had spotters take it. Still always frustrated in this kind of shirt, but I will be getting a new custom shirt in about a month, so right now I just mostly want to work on the shirt groove and getting used to at least mid-500s or above weight on the bar before I get it with either of the 2 shirts I have to use for right now that I at least get something out of.

That's all today. Deadlift didn't feel that good today. I was hoping to do one more single with 500 at least, but decided not to after the 480. Every set felt like the bar kept getting too far away from me as I pulled it. Felt my knee quite abit with the first set of 460 and the set of 480 also, so that was enough today. Having a sinus infection the last almost 2 weeks probably hasn't helped either. Just today I have started to feel better. So, next time I expect will be better than today.
