The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

But you do stick with something for at least long enough that you get an idea of what is and isn't working. You're building a wealth of knowledge and experience. Soon, you're going to begin rolling your own from all that you've garnered from everything else. That'll be fun!

Yeah, I guess you can say that. I have so many ideas and things I wanna try from stuff I learned from Tone. After this meet I'll be getting ready for RUM7 and then after that is when I'll try some of this stuff out. We'll see though, because Tone just changed up their template and it looks interesting.

Done....I'm thinking if I want to continue to do OHP or inclines, it needs to be done with dumbbells instead of a barbell. My pec/shoulder tie-in can't take it. I'm probably going to stop doing them for good if it doesn't get any better. At least with DB's I can get into a better groove. So we'll see how that goes.

For those who are wondering what Diesel crew did to change 21's, it's simple and bad ass, lol. Instead of doing partials and full ROM like the old school, this style you change your grip. So for your first 7 reps you use a wide grip, then bring your grip in for 7 reps, and then bring it in some more for your last 7. Every rep is a FULL ROM!!! What I did was start off with my index finger on the ring, then I moved them in one thumb length, and then I finished off with my pinkies on the smooth. I pretty much moved my grip in one thumb length. If you're looking for a bicep pump, this will do it!!!

What kind of grip are you using for incline bench? I've brought mine in a little bit and it feels a lot better, I've had lots of issues over the years with the same tie-in area you guys are talking about.

I normally grip it the same as my bench, which is pinkie on the ring.

Do shoulder press on smith machine at Deb's or Gold's. I always do most of my shoulder presses this way. I always think it is way less stress on the joints/tendons, but still helps. Probably 9 out of 10 times I do shoulder pressing this way then once in awhile I do barbell overhead just to go heavy occasionally.

I do think shoulder presses will help your bench though Brian, because it is relatively pretty low compared to your bench. I think it would make a difference if you press over 300lbs. overhead. I also really liked standing db presses one arm at a time like how Scott Weech used to do with the fat grip dbs he made.

I also can't bench more than once per week, even if one day is incline or board work or something light, it is still too much for recovery for me also, especially since I had shoulder issues too. But these two are probably the only exercises I thought that didn't interfere with my heavy benching.

Next time I train at either place I'll give them a try, maybe this Friday. I'm hoping that switching to DB's will work for me.

I use an EZ curl bar because its easier on my joints.

I haven't done front squats in awhile. But it seems like the thing to do lately, so I figured why not. My best ever is 420 belt only with a straight bar. I'm going to focus on front squats without a belt, and see what happens.
