    All parliaments that ever sat,

No, not yet Yeah, my friend that I was training with for the BMC lives about 5 minutes from my house. So he's been coming over to train.

I do and I don't, lol. If I train on Friday I probably won't squat. It will be more step-ups, lunges, maybe some sumo speed pulls, stuff like that.

    Bench @ 85%

    Bench press
    Barx20
    135x10
    135x5
    225x5
    315x5
    370/5x3

    Deadpress
    135x3
    225x3
    320/6x1

    Close grip incline presses
    135x10
    230x10
    275/2x5

    JM presses
    135/4x10

    Pressdowns
    50/2x20
    70x20
    90x20

The benches felt a little heavy today, but I was able to hit my sets and reps so I won't complain. I'm not sure how much longer i'll keep doing the dead presses. I'm thinking about ditching them and only doing them every now and then. Since i'm doing speed benches I figured I would stop doing them.

Benches are pretty much always going to feel heavy. You're working above 80% every week. The important part is you're getting your work in and that's what you need. Why'd you stop at 3 on the last? Was it a struggle?

I would alternate the speed and dead presses. 2 weeks speed w/ bands, one week deadstop work, one week high rep but very light straight weight. That will give you a balance you should be able to sustain. Most of all, don't be afraid to switch it up. It's accessory work. Experiment.

That's why I'm happy about today, even though it felt heavy I was still able to finish my sets and reps. I actually did do 4 reps on the last set and missed my 5th. It wasn't really a struggle, it just wasn't flying up. To be honest with you, it wasn't that bad....it just wasn't as fast as I would of liked.

I'll try that next week with the accessory work. I'll finish off with some speed work vs. bands for this week.

I say this same thing every week and Tim has to remind me, it's NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FAST. It's not speed work. If you're getting your reps and they're not total grinders, you're doing fine! But I understand what you're trying to say here and believe me, if you can tape a few you'll probably see they're not nearly as slow as they feel.

I agree. So many times I have felt like poop and complained at how slow the lifts were and then look on the video and they look for all the world like they were easy. Damn relativity.

I know, and I was saying that to myself today, lol. I'm going to start recording some lifts again. So we'll see how it looks on camera.

    Tuesday
    04/10/12
    SQ/DL

    Squat @ 85%
    BarxALOT
    135/2x5
    225/2x5
    315x5
    405x5
    Added knee sleeves
    495x3
    Added belt
    565/5x3

    Deadlift @ 90%
    225x3
    315x3
    405x3
    495x3
    Added belt
    565x2
    635/2x2
    635x3...10lb PR!!!

Squat-I just couldn't find my groove today. Every set looked different and felt different. But once again, I got my sets and reps and for an added bonus, I was suppose to do 560 for 5x3 but instead I did 565 I was wanting to go for 5 reps on my last set but I wanted to save my energy for my pulls since I wanted a triple PR more.

Deadlift-This went better then I expected. The reason why I say that is because the first two sets were hard. I am so happy that I even attempted to pull the third rep and then locking it out was even better. I made sure I stood there for a few seconds to let it sink in that I hit a PR. This was a 10lb rep PR. My best before today was 625x3 and that was T&G, today I paused and reset all my reps. I also added 5lbs to this pull, I was suppose to do 630 but I did 635 instead because I missed 635x3 in my last training cycle, so I really wanted it today.

Overall It wasn't a bad day, I was feeling a little sick like I was going to throw up and I pushed through it. I do want to add that I only got 3 hours and 20 minutes of sleep last night and to pull a rep PR after all the work before, I'm really excited about that.

Congrats B. That's a killer day and to hit a PR after all that work is monstrous. When you add in the little sleep and sickness, it says good things for what you're gonna do when you feel GOOD. Rest up and make sure you're not killing your body training through that sickness. Recovery is huge.
