The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Done...Tonight I went and trained at Debs Gym with the boys. It was a good time and I had a good workout. But my shoulder is JACKED! I'm not sure what's wrong with it and I'm sort of afraid to find out. I got out of groove on my first warmup set with 135 and I felt it in my shoulder. I was nervous as hell to move on, I was just making sure that I grooved each rep right. Right now it just feels sore and that's probably because I had ice on it for almost an hour, lol.

Done...You guessed it, I switched back to my old training split. Why? Because I felt that it produced the best results. I haven't squatted over 600 in about 7-8 weeks, maybe even longer. So it felt good to hit a triple. My best is 600x5 with my stronger sleeves and wider stance. I'm not that far away. For some reason, I don't feel comfortable deadlifting. My stance always feels off. I can tell my upper back isn't as strong as it has been. So on my lower accesory days, i'll be doing some sort of GM's and i'll also be doing front squats...both with the SSB. On my upper accessory day, i'll still rotate CG presses with flat and incline. I'm going to lay off the overhead stuff for right now. My bodyweight this morning was 251. If it stays around there come meet week i'll decided if I want to cut weight. If it goes up more then i'll do 275's.

I've had good success working my upper back with pull ups and using a wide grip when I deadlift as an accessory. Changing the deadlift grip is easy, since you don't have to add an exercise to do it.

That's what sucks, I had to back off the pull-ups because it bothered my shoulder. I might try them again and see what happens. I also want to start doing DB rows again. I never really thought about pulling with a wider grip, I might try that out.

Can you do the pull ups with a neutral grip? This way feels best for me.

Agree with joey, pull ups always feel best on my shoulders when neutral grip.

Training is looking good B, fair call to switch back to the old routine as you say it worked really well. So what exactly will you be training each day now then? And how many days a week?

Yeah, I'll be giving them a try for sure. Rouge fitness sells an attachment for my rack that can allow me to do neutral grip pull-ups. I might have to invest it .

I think it's a good idea. It does make my session longer, but mentally I feel better towards the end of the week. My split will look like this:

    Monday-BP
    Tuesday-SQ/DL
    Wednesday-Off
    Thursday-upper accessory
    Friday-lower accessory
    Weekends-Off

I really enjoyed the idea of getting all my heavy training out of the way.

Really like the idea of getting the heavy lifts out early in the week. You have a good amount of recovery time then.
I like my griups on pullups. If im sore in the shoulders, ill go neutral grip, but I get better lat activation wide gripped.
