    7 weeks out...

    Didn't really do much on this day. Still not able to press, so my planned floor presses were a no go. So I decided to just knock out some triceps, biceps, band flyes and some facepulls. Here's how it went...

    JM presses: 95/3x15
    High pulley bicep curls: 3 sets of 12
    Band facepulls w/EFS mini band: 3 sets of 15
    Band flyes w/EFS monster mini: 3 sets of 20

    That's it, lol. Things seem to be getting better, so we'll see what happens.

    Done...Got in a lot of volume today. I did keep the weights lighter then normal, which i'll probably keep doing from here on out. I got a pair of 36" KLA2000 wrist wraps from Ken Anderson coming in the mail, and I just got my new bench pad a few minutes ago. I'm super stoked to give them a try, but it sucks I won't be able too because of my shoulder/bicep pain. I'm still planning on moving forward with my squat and deadlift.

    Done...Today, was a tough one. I was in the sun most of the day yesterday and my back is burnt, lol. So, needless to say, squatting wasn't fun AT ALL!!! I'm a little mad that I missed the last rep of block pulls, at that point, I had nothing left in me. Hopefully, next week will go smoother. I plan on backing off a little on the squats and deadlift. It won't be a deload, it'll be more like a reload. I'll be squatting around 490 for a couple sets of 4 and i'm going to be doing some SLDL for sets of 5. Then the next couple weeks after should be fun, lol.

    Done...I was actually feeling pretty good today, as far as my shoulder. I didn't really have much drive, and my lockout seems pretty weak right now. I'm sure it's a combination between losing weight and my shoulder. I probably shouldn't have pushed it as heavy as I did, lol. It's pretty sore right now, but not like it has been. On the plus side, my new bench pad worked out good. It felt much better then my old one. I'm still not sure about the wraps. They're a kick ass wrap, just think the 36" is too much for me. I'll post a video later tonight or tomorrow.

    For me, the longer wraps are PITA to wrap and get tight. If someone does it for me, okay. If not, I like 'em a little shorter than 36".

    Thanks, Tim! Getting them tight isn't the problem. That's what I like about the KLA2000, you can really crank down on them. I think my problem is, I've been wearing 24" wraps for a couple years now. I'll give it a few more sessions before I decide.

    Done...I decided to go back to 4x a week with my training. I feel more comfortable this way. I'm going to keep doing OHP, but I won't be going any lower then 5 reps. Everything else, I'll keep in the 15+ range. I'm going on 5 weeks out, so I need to focus more on my main 3 lifts. My squat and deadlift training should be fun this week. I'm backing down to 70-75% and doing a couple sets of 4-5 reps. I'm also doing SLDL off a 2" block for sets of 5. I might tape my thumb up and pull with a hook grip. If not, i'll pull DOH and strap up when I have to. We'll see how my bench goes. The plan is to work up to my opener for a double and maybe my 2nd attempt. I'm going to ditch the close grip board work, it's too much on my shoulder/bicep.

    Done...Pretty fast pace day today. Last time I attempted DB presses, my shoulder was killing me. Today, I was able to do them, but just like my barbell bench, I have to tuck hard and keep the path high. I did get a pretty good pump after my second set. Other then that, my OHP strength is way down. That last set was a grinder. I had great success using 5/3/1 for my OHP, so I think after this meet, I'll go back. I feel like they are a big help with my bench, so I'd like to keep doing them. My best is 315x1 and 255x10 with a regular bar and no lift off. I'm far away from that, lol.

    You should try overhead press with bands sometime. I tried it last week and it was definitely interesting. I liked it though. I would like to continue to improve my shoulder press as well to at least 350 seated in the short term, and definitely think this will help with it.

    Also, I will definitely be at the meet you are doing if you need help with anything. I won't be lifting but I will be helping a few people.

    I've messed around with bands on Zydrunas presses. I might throw the bands in for a change. I won't be competing next month, sorry. My heads not in it, so IMO, it's not worth it.

    Done...At this point, I decided to go ahead and not do the meet. It sucks, but mentally, my head is not in the game. I don't feel ready and my body isn't feeling that great. Still hurts to press, and my knee hasn't really let up. I'm still planning on dropping some bodyweight. I'd really like to walk around at 230-235. Even though I'm at my strongest around 250+. I just didn't feel comfortable and it's just not healthy. So, back to the drawing board. Hopefully, I'll be able to lay out a good offseason program and be able to work out some issues. Then if I can, plan to compete at RUM8. But for now, I'll finish the week and then take next week completey off. Next Thursday we're going on a mini vacation for 4 days, so I can't wait. Sorry to disappoint, I'm just not feeling this one!

    Done...Today I decided to just work with 8 reps. I'll probably keep doing this when I get back from vacation. I also like the paused floor presses w/chains. I'll keep working with those.

    That's ok. I've changed plans on meets several times due to small injuries or something else came up that I couldn't go. You've been competing pretty often the last couple years now. Just take a couple weeks off and go lighter for a few weeks and that should be a big difference.
    Best competition lifts:
    650lbs. raw squat
    441lbs. raw bench
    580lbs. raw deadlift
    1650lbs. raw total

    Yeah, it sucks, but it is what it is. I'm taking next week completely off. Then I'll start back with some higher volume and go from there. Hopefully I'll be able to compete at RUM8 next year.
