The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Invain - not sure, just a bad day i guess.

Brief update. Been on CBL again and weight is back down to about 224. Last bench session went good with an easy 455 + 150 lbs chain for a single to a 1 board. Last squat session Friday was the best squat workout ive ever had. Handled 515 + 200 lbs of chain for 8 sets of 2 in just briefs then threw the suit bottoms on with reverse greens off the monolift which really didnt do shit and hit a 660 + 200 for a double. I will try to post the facebook video, i should of went 700 or more.

I will note, although it could be from that friday squat workout, that my raw bench has finally seen a hit from the weight loss and all of the straight bar squatting. Every weight from 225 up feels VERY heavy and tight on my shoulders and pecs. Completely struggled with a 405 raw 2 board which ive been hitting for 3 years as a warm up not max effort. I think i have weak shoulders. Not sure.

Meet is in 3 weeks. 2000 or bust.

    Strong strong squatting Rob.

What has you back on CBL?

Just a thought but do you think that with holding less water due to less daytime carbs that it might affect your strength or at least make your shoulders and pecs feel tight? They are just literally very dry and not firing as well as they could?

Sorry for the 1 month bump!!!

Meet was Sunday 10/21/12 in Attleboro MA. I weighed in the lowest i have since my first meet back in 2007 at 217.6. I only did a small 1 day dehydration the day before so my weight come meet time was back to around 224.

Squat - 705, 735, 755 crushed them all. I took 735 extra deep so i stalled at a little midway but on the 755 i hit right at parallel and got 2 whites. I should of taken a 4th at 800 because i think i could of squatted it.

Bench - 505, miss at 530, skipped 3rd. Pretty disapointed in this, but then again even in the warmup room i felt weak. 505 was actually a gift because my ass came up. The shirt really didnt give me anything at all. I must of lost too much weight i guess.

Deadlift - 635, miss at 670 twice. Once again a HUGE disapointment to myself and even my training partners. Not sure why this happen, but the first 670 i got caught 2 inches from lock and the third i was just wasted. Ive been crushing weight in the gym, but the gym is the gym. I'm also going to ditch sumo because its just not for me.

So overall, i still totalled 1895 and at 220 this was pro. Pretty cool i guess. My weight is going to very slowly go back up because i really think id be a great 242 lifter as long as i dont put on all the body fat like before.

Onward to 800+ squat and 700+ deadlift. Fuck bench!! lol.

Still a fine showing, especially since you lost a considerable amount of solid weight and bascially overreached in the wrong direction imo...did well just the same bro.

    Good luck moving forward.

Appreciate the kind words guys. I know what i need to do the next time around. Squat training doesnt have to change one bit, however i plan on speed pulling after EVERY DE squat session for now on. I also plan on adding more kettlebell swings to get my hips forward faster on the deadlift. As far as bench i need to stop this light weight high rep assistance work and start hammering heavy high volume shit. My arms need to grow as they are STILL 16.5 which is pathetic. I had a hard time straight bar curling 85 lbs strict the other day. The raw bench needs to come up in order for my shirted to be any stronger at this point. Technique will help more of course, but if i can get back up to a 430-455 2 board press i'm confident in a 575-600 bench.

Diet wise, i will continue to do CBL. However my post workout shake will now be 100c/50p instead of 40/40. I will start there and monitor my weight. I also will throw in a high fat breakfast if my last meal ends pretty early because i dont want to fast more then 12 hours.

In reality, i guess i could go on carb nite and get down to 12-14% but my strength will suffer. So i will just try to maintain my current 16-17% and get my body weight up slowly.
