The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Thx bro

2/15/13 Cube Squat Max Wk 8

Today was supposed to be a new max squat, but to be honest i felt like shit the whole workout

Squat (texas giant bar 65 lbs)
    bar x alot
    155 x 3 x 2
    245 x 2
    245 x 1
    335 x 1
    385 x 1
    425 x 1
    475 x 1

    add knee wraps

    515 x 1
    545 x 1 high

I was playing with my stance the whole time. Going narrow i tend to round my back, but going wide i'm right there or 1-2 inches high. The wide stance i'm able to stay WAY upright and generate alot of power. Between my tight hips and the knee wraps it was like a tight squat suit in the hole.

The weight moved easy, but i know it was high. Any tips for hip flexibility would be great.

I know that feeling man. You'll break through it. Do you do any hip stretching? It does help quite a bit.

My chiropractor gives me alot of good streching but its mostly my own fault for not doing it three times a day. I think this friday i'm going to take 515 with knee wraps for reps. That'll strech it out!

    2/18/13 Cube Deads Week 9

    Deadlift off 1" Mats
    135 x 10
    135 x 5
    225 x 3
    275 x 3
    315 x 1
    365 x 1
    405 x 1
    455 x 1
    495 x 1

    those were beltless

    545 x 1
    590 x 1
    655 x miss
    655 x miss

    FUCK.

    605 x 2

Well i came into this workout feeling very confident but my head got the best of me. I rushed going into the first set and basically tried to stiffleg it and dropped it. The second time was just a breif tug and i gave up. I was pissed so i doubled 605 pretty easy. This shit has to stop.

    Deadlift from 3" Deficit (beltless)
    455 x 1
    505 x 1 x 6

    Shrugs
    185 x 15
    275 x 15 x 2

    Abs

Have a video of the 605 double on a partners phone. Ill have him get it to me.

The plan is to start doing beltless deadlifts and alot of deficit pulls. Also going to smash some ab work and try to build core strength more. I also need to get my squat going and i think all this will be the ticket to the 700 pull ive been waiting for.

Snatch grip pulls look brutal, may have to see where I could add those... How do you like them?

I dont like them, LOL. Actually no exercise has even crushed my entire back more then those. They hit the lats way harder then rows.

Heres the video of the 605 x 2. I know i unlock my legs a little at the top. I just need to stop the pull instead of hyperextending.

2/22/13 Cube Squat Week 9 (modified)

Had to squat with the first crew early because i had to leave so the exercise was differnet but the same percentage and reps

    SSB Box Squat w/ Chain

120 lb chain, deep box, belt less

    bar (65) x 10
    bar + 120 x 3
    155 + 120 x 3
    245 + 120 x 3
    335 + 120 x 3 x 6

Pause Squats (not a 3 sec pause lol just a second)
    225 x 10
    245 x 10
    245 x 10

    Front Squats
    135 x 8 x 3

    Heavy Abs

My tolerance to any sort of leg volume is terrible lol. I might take some time off from backloading and just eat whatever i want for a while. I feel that although this is the best "diet" ive tried i'm getting a little sick of having to watch everything i eat. I might go 1 month just pounding protein and carbs and take the fat back down a bit (not that i'm fat-o-phobic just because of calories) and try carb night come spring.

Love the words of wisdom from ya coke.

Once again the high volume leg work destroyed the muscle in my inner/rear thigh. I can barely walk and i was cramping all night. No way i'm going to deadlift tonight so i guess ill do abs/lats/MAYBE some lower back. I need to step it up and foam roll/ice/stretch after every session.

Def build that core strength up it's beyond worth it. Huge weights man I'm really thinking of giving the cube a shot after seeing your workouts lately definitely let me know how you liked it at the end.

Thanks HJP. Eating like this or how i used to is weird. Carbs have been giving me what it seems small headaches and some dizziness. I guess my body got used to eating them at night only. Also been pooping WAY more lol. Not sure if i like it. I feel better on fats.
