The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    10 x 3

    Pulldown Abs

    10 x 3

Rob just curious, how much does your football bar weigh? The one at the other gym I go to has 4 handles and definitely feels heavier than 45 but I could just be a midget and the awkwardness of the bar might just be whats making it feel heavier.

It is a very awkward bar. Actually, I cant stand it LOL. I was frustrated today because the setup really sucked but considering I was the only one complaining I just shut the hell up and did it lol. What can I say, every crew needs a diva!

Felt like i got hit my a bus all day! brief rant...

Today's workout really made me think quite a bit. I think the big raw movement in the sport is really great. Training for any type of competition is taxing on the body and the mind no doubt. There is a very large misconception with equipped lifting today with all of the internet warrior youtube fairy fucks that are experts on powerlifting and multiply. Its really putting out a terrible vibe for the sport. It very bothering to me that even the so called "greats" like Steve Goggins, Fred Hatfield, and quite a few others have actually gone out of there way to talk about the "lack of integrity" in powerlifting today. WTF IS THIS SHIT. Powerlifting is about one thing. BEATING YOURSELF. If your out to set a world record or having some FRIENDLY competition with someone thats fine, but all this integrity shit is really annoying. How do men of this statue have the nerve to shit on another lifter who obviously looked up to them as role models? How does the entire internet have the nerve to critique 900 pound deadlifts, 1100 pound squats, and 700+ pound bench presses when there best total is 1300? Oh i forgot, they did it RAWWWWWW. Like i've done in the past, I love to invite anyone down to the gym, ILL provide the gear, and let them attempt to squat or bench 100, 200, or even 300 pounds more then there body is actually physically made to handle. Its really not as easy as its made out to be.

    9/23/13 ME Squat

    Prehab
Three different variations of compression due to a bothered knee. Put the sleeves on and a lot of icy hot and was ready to roll.

Cambered Bar Box Squat w/ Blue Bands
    bar (65) X 5
    bar + blue x 5

put plate and bands over and around the plates

    155 + blue x 2
    245 + blue x 2
    335 + blue x 2

    add briefs

    425 + blue x 1
    495 + blue x 1
    535 + blue x 1
    585 + blue x 1
    625 + blue x 1 PR

Phew. Lots of tension up there. The blue bands around the plates makes for quite a bit more tension then normal.

    Dimel DL
    185 x 15
    185 x 15
    185 x 15

    Reverse Hypers
    3 x 10

    4 trips x 40 yrds heavy

Last two workouts of the week, Wednesday DE bench and Friday DE squat werent the best. Tomorrow will be a different story. I plan on attempting 600 full range for the hell of it and then want to hit some doubles off the two board with chains.

HUGE benching and HUGE squatting great job on both days man. Mega tension on that squat and that pressing is really getting crazy, i'm sure you'll smoke 600 brotha.

About your mini-rant. The little mongrels on the internet who troll youtube comments and talk trash on forums about geared this and raw that are just that, little mongrels. I have love for geared lifting and raw lifting equally and when the "Greats" talk about the integrity of the sport yah there are different opinions on how much is too much gear etc, etc.. but I think the most damaging thing to PL's integrity is non-strict judging and gifting. Geared lifting is by no means easy or any easier than raw, it's brutal. I remember coming home after shirted bench days and after taking my t-shirt off my mother freaking out and not understanding why I have dark bruises jutting out form my arm pits lol. Geared lifting is its own monster but the criticism of it comes from obviously high squats being gifted and more shirted benches being dumped than pressed. If I post a video on here and my squat looks high no one has a problem telling me, if one of the current greats in the geared realm of the sport gets a high squat passed and people call BS on it there's an equal amount of mongrels coming to the lifts defense and saying things like "you try squatting 1100+ THAT TAKES BALLS!" It takes IMMENSE balls to even stand up with that weight but balls or not no one deserves gifts, not glaring ones. Geared lifting is badass, Raw lifting is badass, anyone who gets under the bar and gives it their all is a badass, so why can't we all just get along!

Mini-Rant over. Now smoke that 600!

The other thing about raw vs geared is who gives a shit what someone else is doing. Lifting is rad because you can beat you. Nobody puts on gear, lifts more and convinces themselves his or her raw bench just jumped 100 pounds, but you always know when you're putting in more than you have before. Even lifting raw, I'll do reverse bands or use straps or whatever and if it's better than last time I'm stoked.

Missed some logging when the site was down!

Highlights - 3 weeks out from the IPA nationals in York, PA.

Decided on a 655 deadlift opener. I'm using a sumo stance with a squat suit and it seems to work ok. Hit it twice in the gym a week ago very easy. Last Sunday i hit a very easy 620 1 board and touched 550 the week before with an easy press. Last night we started our squat prep and i worked up to 750 straps up and 805 with reverse greens, both were smoked. Next week i will work up to 805 straps up no bands and that might have to be my opener. My depth is a little poor right now (1-2" high).

    Thanks coke!

Nick - My openers put me at 2000, so anything at and above that will be awesome. I think right now i'm looking at 805-865-9xx/560-600-6xx/655-700-7xx.

Quick update. Sunday i worked up to a full range 565 press. Was out of the groove but it was easy to correct. Monday was week 2 of squat prep. I worked up to 805 full gear no bands and while it was easy i was still a little high. The second was 865 reverse bands and the situation was the same. I cut the 865 really early because i started to black out a little bit.

    Heres a video.
