The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Making weight- water intake

I have my meet in a few days. I have been eating fairly light and drinking a ton of water. I was going to cut my water down the day before the meet and then no water before weigh-ins.... but I've been monitoring my weight and I am as we speak below the mark. As long as I keep monitoring, wouldn't it be best for me as far as performance goes to keep drinking the water and maybe just sip it before weigh-ins in the morning? I would think this would keep me more adequately hydrated and I would have less chance of getting weak.

Of course if during the next few days of weighing I am borderline I may still cut the water. What are your views?

Are the weigh-ins the same day as meet or before? If they are before, you should be able to cut water intake till you get weighed then just drink alot of water before the meet. I know Oscar delahoya would come in sometimes 15lbs heavier in the fight, then he was during the wiegh-in, it is quite common.

BTW good luck in the meet!

    Thanks.

The thing is I have a shot at breaking a record or 2 for my age and weight class, but in order to be eligible you have to weigh in the day of the meet, right before. So I won't have much time to load up on anything.

How much weight do you need to cut to make weight. dehydration is not an option since your weigh-in is so close to the meet, it would effect your performance alot. I know if a don't drinke enough water and I am dehydrated my strength and energy goes down alot.

Well, I thught I might need to lose 2-3 lbs to be safe, but it seems that I am pretty good right now. I just want to know this incase for whatever reason my weight fluctuates in the next few days.

I think maybe I was holding water from not drinking enough and now that I have been drinking like a fish the past few days I dropped a few lbs.

Since your under weight now i would just not drink water the morning of the meet or within 2 hours or so befor yuou go to bed. I have lost a lot of weight for some meets but for some it affected performance and for others it didn't. you can eat something small befor weighin thats full of energy, try to get something thats light too.

I made some salt capsules, to sodium load LMAO

It backfired, and must've absorbed the water from my stomach, cuz I puked. That will be my first and last sodium loading experiment.

I'm so angry I can only drink a gallon today....

    And half tomorrow....

And none friday except for ice cubes.

Yea nate, the boxer thing holds true...I'll be between 185 and 190 on meet day, since I'm weighing in friday night.

PS latman why didn't you just listen to me, did you think accipiter or some other clown would chime in with better advice?
