The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Thanks guys! Yeah I'm very happy about the PRs I'm chipping away at that 1400 total 20 pounds at a time and thats fine with me. By the way, I don't think I even mentioned it but I think my total was 1322 but I'll be sure when the results are posted. Already have the "off-season" training set up and we're excited to get started. By the way, my good friend and training partner had an 80 pound PR total by going 1389 @ 198 up from 1306 in March! Massive increase.

Yeah I think I am. My best sumo is 513 and my best conventional is 507 so not much difference. Conventional feels a little more natural to me so I'll probably stick with it. I honestly believe that I am strong enough to pull mid to upper 500s but my technique is so poor it is limiting me. I'm really gonna hammer that starting next week. I'll be posting lots of video to get some advice from everyone.

Felt you were way too solid for that class anyways, so good deal on moving up for future outings.

Did very well, can't beat having new PRs, especially on meet day.

Ive told him about theis site but he is hesitating. I think he'll crack soon enough and we'll see him on here. While I do have my next phase of training lines out it is not too exciting I'm afraid. Lot of volume in the competition lifts. However, it should be fun watching me try to gain 20 pounds with my metabolism. Lol! (PS Im drinking a shake and eating a king size rice crispy treat as I type this)

I don't know if I'm done for good but I am done for now. I've been working on a program for a while now and I'm gonna try it out. It's ridiculously simple but I think that is exactly what I need. We'll see how it goes...

Thanks J! I actually have my next cycle planned with ample amounts of deficit pulls in it! I have not tried rolling the bar but maybe I will. Couldn't hurt. Whatever it take to get my pull up. If I had a decent pull, I might be elite by now!

Thanks Coke! I actually went nuts after my 474 squat because that was what I needed to get in the PLwatch top 50. Then I checked the next day and 474 was no longer high enough! Guess I'll just have to squat more next time.

    Friday 8/10/12 - Squat

    Squats:
    135x5
    135x5
    225x5
    225x3
    working sets
    260 x 5 x 6 sets

    Front Squats:
    135x10
    135x10
    135x10

    Good Mornings (regular stance):
    115x8
    115x8
    115x8
    115x8

    Weighted Planks:
3 x 45 seconds with plate on back

    Hanging Leg Raises:
    bw x 10
    bw x 10
    bw x 10

Lots o' squattin today. Next week I'll be into heavier weights but this week I'n keeping everything at 60% or lower. Since I prefer to squat with wraps I've been toying with what percentages to use in training since almost all my training sets will be without wraps. I have decided to reduce training percentages by 5% for all my squat sets to account for any help the wraps give me. So if I'm scheduled to squat 70% for 5x5 I'll lower it to 65%. Easy enough.

Solid session bro! I know about volume for the competition lifts, I've been doing it for about 8 months now, lol. If you don't wear wraps much in training, have you thought about wearing knee sleeves?

Yeah I noticed you mainly the comp lifts. Thats what I'm going to do as well this time around. I'll see how it works.
Yeah I've thought about getting a pair it really just the cost that is holding me back. I just bought new wraps before this meet and I need to wait a little before the wife will let me buy something else. Haha.

    Saturday 8/11/12 - Bench Assistance

    Paused 2-board press:
    225x8
    225x8
    225x8

    Barbell Rows:
    135x12
    185x12
    185x12
    185x12
    185x10

    Dbell Shoulder Press:
    40x10 x 4 sets

    SKulls/Curls superset:
    3x10 each

A good friend of mine, who is also one of the top masters benchers in the country, looked me over and told me I could stand to gain alot of mass in my back. So I am hitting the rows/chins hard. Legs are sore from yesterday but nothing too bad. I'm really liking this volume and I think it will pay off with some quality mass where I need it. Plus...whole milk tastes so much better than 1 or 2 percent.
