The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Wednesday 11/7/12 - Bench

    Bench:
    Lots of Warmups
    290 (80%) x 5 reps x 3 sets (last rep of each set paused)

    Dbell Bench:
    100x10
    100x10
    100x10

    Weighted Chins:
    BW + 45 x 8
    BW + 45 x 8
    BW + 45 x 8
    BW x 8
    BW x 8

    EZ Bar Skull Crushers:
    100x10
    100x10
    100x10
    100x10

Bench felt ridiculously light tonight. I could have paused every rep. Things are feeling good so far. Aside from the strength gains, another bonus of the Jersey Iron Template has been I have not been hurt, had joint pain, or otherwise been injured since I have been training this way. No pain = more productive workouts = bigger gains.

    Monday 11/12/12 - Squat

    Squat:
    Lots of warmups
    385(85%) x 3 reps x 5 sets

    Front Squats:
    155x8
    155x3 (hip pain so stopped)

    Hanging Leg Raises:
    bw x 12
    bw x 12
    (Stopped...hip pain)

    Weighted Lunges:
    40 each hand x 8 each leg
    60 each hand x 8 each leg
    60 each hand x 8 each leg

Squats went well but hip pain kinda f'ed up my workout. This all started when I missed 500, 3 weeks ago. Instead of catching me and helping me rack it, my training partner guided me down to the safety pins. This caused me to have to sink the squat literally ass to the floor. Hip hurt like hell for about a week but has been getting better but today it was getting unbearable after squats. I'm sure its just a minor pull so lots of ice, ibuprofen, stretching, and rest till pulls on Friday. Other than that, it was a pretty good workout.

    Bench: 360

Damn, sorry to hear about the hip pain. I hope it gets sorted out. At least you were able to get your squat workout in!

    Wednesday 11/14/12 - Bench

    Bench:
    Lots of warmups
    Working sets at 90%
    330x2
    330x2
    330x3

    Dbell Bench:
    100x10
    100x10
    100x10
    100x10
    100x9 (damn)

    Weighted Chins:
    BW + 45 x 6 reps x 5 sets

Did an extra rep on bench tonight just cause it was feeling good. Lost most of my leg drive on the third rep (hip pain) or I would have had 4. Still can't get 50 reps with hundred pound dbells on the bench. 49 is close though. Haha.
    Meet PR's (raw):

    Squat: 500
    Bench: 360
    Dead: 525

    Friday 11/16/12 - Deadlift

    Deads (sumo):
    Lots of warmups
    475 (90%) x 4 reps x 3 sets

    Deads (conventional):
    225x10
    275x10
    275x10
    315x10

    Weighted Situps:
    4 sets of 10

Very good night. I was scheduled to pull 475 for 3 sets of 2 but I knew that wouldn't be much of a challenge so I upped it to 4 reps. I usually stay very close to the programming but if I'm feeling good I'll up the reps a little. The integrity of the program is still there. I don't go too crazy
