    Friday 11/23/2012 - Deadlift

    Deadlift (sumo):
    Lots of warming up
    455 x 4 reps x 5 sets

    Deadlifts (Conventional):
    315x6
    315x6
    315x6
    315x6

    Weighted Glute Bridges:
    135x8
    135x8
    135x5
    135x5
    135x5

    Hanging Leg Raises:
    4x12

Got to lift with some friends of mine today who are great lifters. Told me to contract at the top for a 5 count on each rep on the glute bridges so thats why the reps dropped. Glutes are fried but its gotta help. Haha. Great day overall. Deloading next week and I am actually looking forward to it. I'm kinda beat up at the moment.

Making note to check out the glute bridges, first time becoming aware of 'em if I'm not mistaken.

Glad to see you take advantage of the opportunity to be training with other great lifters like yourself.

Always great to learn a new movement Coke. I love it when I get taught something new cause its a great opportunity to get better. Hopefully these will aid in increasing my pull.

Thanks Brian. They were very humbling. Holding each rep at the top for 5 seconds was brutal and all I could get was 5 reps with 135. Looking forward to getting better at them.

    Sunday 11/25/12 - Upper Assistance

    Close-Grip Bench + Chains:
    185 + 60 pounds chain x 8
    185 + 60 pounds chain x 8
    185 + 60 pounds chain x 8
    185 + 60 pounds chain x 8

    Wide Grip Palms Away Chins:
    bw x 10
    bw x 10
    bw x 10
    bw x 10

    Dbell Flat Bench:
    100x10
    100x10
    100x10

    Chins/Barbell Curls Superset:
    bw x 10/65 x 10
    bw x 10/65 x 10
    bw x 10/65 x 10

Last workout before my deload this week. Everything went well. Got a total of 70 chins on the night so happy about that. My back is really starting to show improvement from all the chins. Its getting thicker and stronger which is really transfering over to my pull.

On another note, we are still deciding on a meet for the spring and are now leaning toward the APF Utah State Championships. I make it a point to never bash any person, federation, etc... but I am a little disappointed in how things are run in a certain fed that is close to were we live so we are going to start traveling a little to compete elsewhere. Anyone have any experience with the APF?

I have alot of experience with the APF. My only complaint is that they don't allow any knee sleeves or knee wraps in the raw division. If they did, then I would still be lifting in the APF. If your ok with that, then I would highly suggest giving them a try. I've always said that my top 3 federations are the APF, USPA and Raw United.

Thanks for the input bro. No sleeves or wraps huh. That kinda sucks. Maybe I'll just enter single ply and wear wraps. My knees aren't the best in the world so I don't really wanna squat heavy with nothing at all on them. I have heard good things about the APF from numerous people so looking forward to trying them out.

    Monday 11/26/12 - Squat Deload

    Squat:
    225x3
    225x3
    225x3
    225x3
    225x3
    225x3

That's it. Last cycle I deloaded the main lift but kept the assistance pretty intense. This cycle I am going to switch that up and deload completely during these weeks. I feel like the extra rest will really help in the coming weeks. Especially the test week.

Don't hold yourself to that. We do deloads different every time. Sometimes, you feel like you need to take it completely off. Sometimes, you go at like 50%. Definitely do not push accessories during the deload. You want to heal up and feel better so keep the intensity low and just get some blood flowing. Let it be different every deload depending on how you feel.

Thanks for the advice Tone. I'll make sure I do just that. Last deload I felt great so I did a little more. This one I feel a little beat up so I won't push it.

    This Weeks Work

    Wednesday - Deload Bench

    Friday -Deload Deadlift

Saturday (started back up again with some high volume assistance):

Close Grip 2-Board Press Against Chains:
    185 + 60 pounds chain x 10
    185 + 60 pounds chain x 10
    205 + 60 pounds chain x 10
    205 + 60 pounds chain x 10
    205 + 60 pounds chain x 10

    Dbell Rows:
    90x10
    90x10
    90x10
    90x10

    Barbell Military:
    95x10
    115x10
    115x10

    Wide Grip Palms Away Chins:
    3x10

    Dbell Curls:
    4x10

Felt really good today. Kept everything in the higher rep ranges and with short rest...no more than a minute between sets. Start up again on Monday with squats. After a motivational talk from a fellow lifter and good friend of mine, I am very psyched to start this cycle and get back on the platform.
