Every Time I start a program, or try and follow my own... I get tore down and wk, Low Volume or High Volume/ Intensity...
When I just do my thing, workout, hit some wk points, jump around on my Core lifts going by feel.... I make gains...
Sometimes Heavy, sometimes skipping them and replacing them with other lifts....
I hear people say You got to have a plan... plans never ever work for me.. and I just wonder if anyone else is like this...I feel like I AM DOING SOMETHING WRONG, if I dont have a plan....
Are there any good lifters out there that lift like this...
I am exactly like this, every time I try a program it goes no where, but that partly because I don't like having a strict regimen. I like going by feel.
Now I am not a pro lifter, not even close, so I don't think its a fair comparison, but I always seem to make more progress on my own than with a program.
I do not follow every pro lifters program, but the majority I've seen do have a program that they follow, and I'm sure thats one of the many reasons that they are at the top of the game.

It's all about motivation. If having a plan makes working out feel like a chore, obviously you're not going to progress.
If you enjoy going and doing your own thing and that makes you happy and gets you there consistently then you'll definitely see better results doing that.
That being said, there are plenty of plans that offer a lot of flexibility for people to do their own thing.
IMHO training for strength without a plan is like getting in your car and taking a left in New York to get to California. Sure, you are going to get there, just not as fast as if you followed a plan.
If you look at conjugate style training you can change things up a lot. You definitely focus on weak points. However, there is a program to be followed. If you are getting torn down and weak from a program you are more than likely not following it properly or not recovering properly. Sleep, recovery methods, and nutrition are equally important as training. If you are going to punish your body you need to get it back in top working order for the next session.
The "no plan" plan has its role for any trainer. But as you get stronger you will need a road map to reach your goals. Use it up because eventually you will need a plan.

No I will add in some atlarge products... and I went back to a westside (3day wk) & 2 small extra workouts at home, going to stick with it...
You may get "tore up" because you're out of shape and can't handle the workload that a solid plan requires. Bouncing around with no plan will get you nowhere. Take an honest look at your training and see if you're actually in shape to train hard.
Thanks RhodeHouse... Maybe im not if I really think about, Thanks everyone lots of eye openers...and Ideas....I am on abetter track now...
