    Deadlift form

    Hey all-

    I did some pulls at the end of the workout the other day. My form is all out of whack. I was wondering if I could get some feedback. This was the first time wearing a suit in a while so it was a bit off.

    For starters, you are basically straight leg, sumo deadlifting. One of my favorite quotes on the deadlift is to "imagine touching your balls to the bar" (or something like that). Basically, get low. While you are still using your erectors to lift the bar, your hamstrings and hips play a huge role in the success of the lift. Use them.

    As far as your back is concerned, stick your chest out, shoulders back, and really get that lower back tight. The way you have it rounded makes me all kinds of nervous.

    Looks like 495? Was this the top end of your work sets? What does your form look like with 405? 315?

    I agree with the starting position problem for sure. Next time after you grab the bar sink your hips back and pull yourself down in to a good starting position.... This will load the suit as well.
    That, sorry I can't do this from my phone right now, and look up Jose Garcias Deadlifting on YouTube. You could write a book about his form.

    Don't rock back. Just settle back and load your hips and hamstrings so they're tight when you start the pull. Arch your back hard.

    1. shin touching bar
    2. grab bar
    3. keep back straight and sink hips down
    4. pull bar into body
