    Bench felt weak today! Not necessarily strength, but soreness/pain in the front delt and elbow/forearm, forcing me to alter technique a little and cut the reps short. My lower back feels awesome though, compared to the past few days.

    I haven't spent much time at all on reverse (ever), but was happy to get some movement on the 355 bar. I did some experimentation with the midbar and wraps, and do not recommend combining IMPs with suede (IMPs underneath)! Even with a tight wrap, the wraps were spinning, which made a medium-tough bend a lot tougher than it should have been!

    I continued to experience pain in the elbow from the seam on the shirt and couldn't get into the right groove the last 2 reps. I might open with 315 raw at my meet and then put on the shirt for the second/third attempts.

    It was a long training cycle leading up to this meet... multiple injuries and set-backs forced me to change plans several times. I started the week out at 201-202 and did a water load, then cut about 15 hours out from weigh-ins. I didn't have to do any cardio or anything else like that this year. The judging was fair but strict. They were red lighting squats at parallel and calling everything else pretty tight.

    I took 460 for my opener and smoked it. I wanted 500 for this meet and decided I would jump up on my second to give me two shots at it if I had to. I took it deep and it was a grinder. My form was spot-on and I give credit to incorporating box squats into my routine for that. In past meets, I've always had some issues with imbalance, and there was none of that today. This was also the first meet where I squatted without a monolift. I ended up passing on my third attempt; the 500 was solid but there wasn't much more I would have gotten. And I had lower-back strain a month back, and didn't want to risk reaggravating it.

    The nerve in my elbow was injured a few months ago in the Super Katana and I haven't been able to bench pain-free in a shirt for over a month. I was thinking about opening raw on bench, but was going to play it by ear during warmups. I even thought about scrapping the shirt for this meet, but decided I'd take my old F6. Warmups were solid. We were using a 55lb. squat bar on warmups too, which might have ultimitely helped. I opened at 340, and destroyed it. (I was actually worried about it too.) The F6 was loose enough that I was able to get the sleeve up a little, so it wasn't twisting down on my elbow. I took 370 for my second and again, smoked it. The elbow was definitely irritated, but the pain wasn't anything like it has been the past several weeks. So, I decided I would try 390, which was a meet PR for me, regardless of bodyweight. (I got 385 at 220 and 242.) I brought the weight down quickly, and got a fast press call, and fought up steadily and locked out strong. I might have gotten 400/405 if I would have tried it.

    I originally put-in for 500 on my deadlift opener, but dropped it to 485 because we were not using a deadlift specialty bar. And the knurling wasn't as sharp as the bar I usually train with. But, it turned out to be nothing that messed me up any. The 485 flew up. I took 510 for my second to give me 1400, which was my goal going into the meet. I thought for a second about taking 550 for my third attempt, but ended up going with 540 to set a meet PR. (I pulled 535 twice before in a meet ... at 242 and 220.) My technique was right-on for the 540 and it was a good pull. After the attempt, I was thinking I should have tried for 550 or maybe 560.

    It turned out to be an awesome meet, and I set bench (5lbs.), deadlift (5lbs.) and total (15lbs.) meet PRs.

    I tried my first 8mm bar in awhile and it didn't put up much of a fight. The kink and sweep were quick; the crush was definitely tougher than both. My elbow is still sore from the meet, but it didn't affect the bend at all.

    I pulled out an old PL000 I was only able to move 1-2 degrees. I hit it a few times and got nothing, then out of frustration, decided to get a "little nuts" on it and was able to open it up. It was a long and painful bend to get it to about 120!

    The 525 was a rough rep and wasn't completely to lockout. My training suit is getting really loose (goes on/off in a few seconds and the legs are starting to slide when on). So, I'll probally have to get it tightened up soon. The 1.5 high-rep work felt strong!

    The 265 felt so strong/quick, I decided to throw on 315 instead of 300. I was lifting alone in my rack, or I would have tried for a third-rep. The 405 reverse-band felt strong too. This ties a PR (green band) for weight done alone.

    The 7mm was a bar I bent reverse to about 10 degrees. I just figured it'd be a good warm up today, instead of wasting it. The 5/16" drill rod was from Fastenal, and tough. Predicting it, I'd say 480-490lbs. The bend took me about a minute, and I left the bands on too.

    I tried my last PL000 today, and it didn't disappoint. I hit it hard on the kink and moved it about 5 degrees. Took 5 more hits and got it open just enough to get into it a little, then took it to about 160. I've only fully bent one of these, but taken several past 150. I think I may go to TSC and buy some more of them, as they would make a great training shoe for the SSP 000.

    My hands are pretty beat up from the shoe work this past week, and it affected my hits on the grade 8 today. I just didn't have it to finish the bend. I went to Tractor Supply today and bought a bunch of Diamond Bronco PL000 and PL00 horseshoes. I figure when I am able to bend PL000s at will, the SSP000 will be close.
