The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

What is a good estimate of my BF%?

Let me get a few things straight first:

    1. The reason I'm wearing a mask is to hide my face, obviously. It gets annoying having to hold the camera perfectly or use MS Paint to block my face out.
    2. The reason I'm wearing this specific mask is not because I'm a 4chan faggot. Never been on 4chan in my life, and I don't necessarily agree with everything Anonymous or OWS says/thinks. Some things I do, but I wear the mask because of what the mask itself represents.

Anyways, still at around 215. Any estimates on where I'm at now? Assume that my legs aren't very muscular at all (only squat like 350, and that's because of decent strong glutes/hips).

    Age: 19 1/2
    Weight: 215
    Height: 5'11.5"

    Why not....

    I'm gonna go with 15%.

I think this is a good estimate - I wouldn't place you any lower than 15%.

    I'll say ~20%.

It's so hard to tell from pics when guys suck in as hard as they can to hide their gut and expand their chest, try to stand in the best possible light, lift to get a "pump" before taking the picture, etc.

So I'm basing this more on the "love handles" that are still present.

I'm also just basing this on typical LBM ranges for a 5' 11" guy that is still only 20 years old.

So, are you going to get a bod pod / DEXA test and let us know who is right?

Well, that pic was on an off-day (no pump) and completely unflexed. By flexing, I'd only be cheating myself, and that is counter-productive.

As for the tests, I dunno where to get them. Plus, I know I need to cut, and I'll wait until I have pretty visible definition to get a test (around Jeff Seid's BF...yes, I have very high expectations).

No leg shot doesn't help either, but I would guess 20% FWIW. The lovehandle area is the only thing that makes me want to say 20%. Who cares if you're wearing a mask.

BTW you might get better or more replies by posting this in the Pics/Vids forum.

    I would also guess 15.

I live near a mid-major university and they have a DEXA Scan tank. I've been told they'll scan for $60. You might find something like that?

^Well, I'll probably try and get one later on, but I want to cut significantly more (while GAINING strength!) before I get the test. It's not even worth it at the moment, as I already know I still need to cut.

But the most important part is not only retaining strength, but gaining strength as I cut very slowly.

Just don't lose motivation if that doesn't happen. Without a bomb, strict diet it's pretty damn hard. Or if you have sweet genetics. Good luck.

I think I can do it, because, let's be realistic for a second, 99.99999999999999999% of people (actually, I'd say 100%) don't actually reach their genetic potential. There just isn't enough productive years in one's lifetime to reach your genetic potential, so I don't like that excuse.

What difference does it make? It is how you appear that matters, no? In other words, if you were 12%, but want better definition how does knowing the 12% matter? If you want better definition you need to lose body fat regardless of some more or less arbitrary body fat measurement.

Body fat estimates of ANY kind are really not very accurate.

Oh, and the whole mask thing is weird... You wear it because of what it represents? Ahh, people...
