The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Thanks guys, I'm slowly getting my mind around not letting food get in the way of training. I mostly eat well but seem to mistime the indulgences.

    Week 6 day 2 (Wednesday, Jan 15)
oly & conditioning, lunch S Hill

20 min mob. Feel a ton better after doing something yesterday and a little more on mobility today.

    Bear complex
full clean (or power + front squat) + push press + back squat + rack jerk.

I hate the term back squat, it's just a squat, but there you have it

    bar
    95
    115
    135
    155
    175
    185
    195.

All were just full cleans until the last one accidentally caught high. Other than that, good stuff.

    WOD
    CF Open 11.1:
    30 double unders
    15 power snatches w/ 75

    only 3 rounds + 30 du + 10 snatches.

This went terribly. I got a new rope which will be 100x better but this was my first try. That's an excuse though, because the snatches weren't fast either. Only one way to go from here.

Tabata situps sound terrible. It should be interesting once the open starts, we'll be doing the same workout once a week.

    Week 6 day 4 (Saturday, Jan 18)
    ME Lower, morning cfsv

I have a dl meet in a week so didn't wanna go nuts. Original plan was front squats against chain but ended up working oly, which is probably good for the meet.

    20 min mob.

cleans from about a foot (above knee cap)
    bar work
    95 x 3 cleans
    125 highpull + clean all x 2
    145 highpull + clean all x 2
    165 clean
185 clean.. but it took about 8 tries.I just cannot get down fast enough and was trying not catch high.
down to 145 for a bunch of work to get down.

The truth of it is, I need to spend much more on mobility and drop speed if I'm gonna get anywhere. After Saturday I'd like to spend some time every day working my bottom position.

    WOD

    5 min AMRAP:
    20yd plate push + 10 jumping lunges
    5 rounds

    5 min AMRAP:
    20 pushups + 10 wallballs
    4.5 rounds

    5 min AMRAP:
    200m row + 10 kb swings (53#)
    3 rounds

    5 min AMRAP:
    20 DUs + 10 pullups
    4 rounds.

    3 min max situps: 42.

    Accessory
    GHR: 3 sets of 8
    a bunnncchhh of stretching.

Good stuff today. Obviously conditioning is returning slowly, but most of the movements are good. DUs still poor and my kipping is wonky, but not bottom of the barrel. Gotta work mobility and movements a lot this month.

Solid sessions there man! I'm too old for soccer these days (we call it football over here)... I try to get in for the occasional game of 5-a-side with the men but it kills me! Good fun though!

Chris I'm hoping for maybe 465 @ 148. Never been a very great puller but it seems to be going up!

Mac, ya I'm 31 so it's hard already, but I love the conditioning. It's indoor so 5 plus the keep.

    Week 7 day 1 (Monday, Jan 19)
    ME Upper, morning cfsv

Had the day off for mlkjr so got to train during open gym with some of the cf homies. fun stuff!

    Floor Press, pinkies on ring
All the chain is doubled, but since i'm the short lifter it wasn't as high as usual. So even though we used 80# chain it should maybe count at say 55.

    bar
    bar + 80 chain x 5
    135 + 80 chain x 3
    185 + 80 chain x 2
    225 + 80 chain x 2
    245 + 80 chain x 1
    265 + 80 chain x 1
    275 + 80 chain x 1
285 + 80 chain x 1 .. took about 10s, absolute max. rad though, like I said the chain was a bit weaker but last time I did this I only hit 235.

    JM floor press
    bar x 5
    95 x 5
    115 x 5
    125 x 5
Focus on slow eccentric and building those tricep tendons

    Wod 1
    3 rounds:
    3 ring muscle up
    6 hang pc & jerk
    9 wall balls
    30s rest

Time was 4:38. Happy to get all the mu unbroken.

    Wod 2
    8 min AMRAP:
    5 hspu
    10 pullups
    15 pushups
    20 du

3 rounds + 14 du. Jump rope absolutely still killing me.. each round took 1+ min to jump instead of what should be 15 seconds. Oh well, working on it

    Accessory
    3 sets:
    kb curl and press, 15# x 8
    min band pushdowns x 15

    3 sets:
mini band pull apart x 25

    15 min static stretching.
Meet is in 5 days so I'll start chilling out soon.

    Thanks man, it went ok.

    Meet
I thought my weight was questionable so I cut water from the night before on. Weighed in at 146 and was a little mad I'd be dehydrating myself haha. So, had 2 hours to drink liquids which wasn't quite enough

warm ups felt great, went something like 135 185 225 (maybe something?) 315, 345 385

opened at 425ish (all in kilos super fast
    next 446 again quick
only jumped 11# to 457 and missed. I was pretty dumbfounded. When analyzing the video I started clean pulling the bar back with my shoulders in front basically, I got to the point where I was almost falling backwards and just couldn't recover. Rookie mistake from not practicing tech much and doing so much oly.

Still 3x bw + 8#, a meet PR by a pound and all while improving my crossfit weakpoints so I can't complain, but that miss shouldn't have happened.

    BACK TO TRAINING
    Week 1 day 1 (Monday, Jan 27)
    ME Upper, lunch S Hill

After the meet we went out that night, snowboarded early the next day and stayed up at a concert.. so today I was barely feeling it. Figured I'd do something new so I got a free PR

seated pin presses, bar from chin
    bar x 10
    95 x 5
    135 x 3
    155 x 1
    165 x 1, not super fast
175 x 1, this one was way fast. So I hit a groove on that one but thought good enough

    Incline, RE
    115 x 10
    155 x 10
    175 x 10
    175 x 10

    WOD
    12 min AMRAP:
    10 pullups
    20 pushups
    30 situps
    40 du
SCORE: 3 rounds + 27. Pullups aren't super smooth and du are terrible.

Thanks dude, I'm still a bit mad I missed it.

My buddy stevo made this video of the meet:

Seems like I started pulling back too hard after the weight was forward and just couldn't even out.

    Week 1 day 1 Session 2
went back for 20 mins mobility, 15 minutes double unders (best time for 30 was 41s) and:
pec deck, 1 warm up, 1 megadropset
pushdowns, 1 warm up, 1 megadropset

    Week 1 day 2 (Tuesday, Jan 28)
    DE Lower, lunch S Hill

    15 min mob

    Front free squats
instead of choked around 2 dbs bands were around a small base

    bar a bunch
    55 + bands x 2
    105 + bands x 2
    145 + bands x 2
    165 + bands x 2
    175 + bands x 2, 4 sets.

Something like that, the end is right.

3 position clean + push jerk
    bar warm up
    95
    115
    135
    155
165 PR, felt good. I'm not finishing pulls which is a bummer but other things are clicking.

    Week 1 day 2.5 (Wednesday, Jan 29)
    extra work

a whole hour of mobility. Lotta focus on good bottom position and wrist/ankle flexibility

10 minutes of unbroken du practice, did terribly.. I think the best was 20 something

    3 rounds:
    1 min du
    30s rest.

    Best round was like 40du.

Wow lots of work since I last checked. Sorry you missed your goal at your meet, but at least you still came away with a PR at that weight. Awesome strength to bodyweight ratio. Looks like your oly stuff and doubleunders are progressing nicely too.

You always manage to fit crazy amounts of work into each session bro... conditioning won't take long to come back the way you're hitting it!
